Michigan Friday: Shane at Pioneer and More Camp Injuries

If you want to get the glimpse of Michigan's future tonight or see how Shane Morris plays at the corner of Stadium and Main?  Head over to Hollway Field tonight to watch Shane Morris and Warren De La Salle take on Pioneer.   John Wrangler's kids also play for De La Salle.

The fall camp injuries are starting to pile up for the Wolverines.  We first learned that true freshman Chris Wormely was lost for the year with an ACL tear about a week ago, then DT Ondre Pipkins was taken to the hospital with a neck injury.   Ondre injury was not serious and is back at practice but we learn yesterday that two more freshman will be lost for the year.   First is true freshman LB Kaleb Ringer who has a knee injury and second is redshirt freshman OL Chris Bryant with a broken leg.   Kaleb had enrolled early and was expected to see some time on defense and probably on special teams.   He also had a knee issue his senior year in high school which could be related to this injury.  He will red shirt for sure.

Chris was expected to be a backup on the line this year and could have seen a ton of playing time.  This injury is a tough hit to an offensive line that  already had depth issues.   Expect to see a true freshman raise up the depth chart now.   Chris used his redshirt year last year and if he is lost for the year, expect him to file for a medical redshirt.

  • 2013 RB commit Deveon Smith goes off in his first game of the year.  He had 17 carries for 311 yards.  There is video available at this link.  (the defense wasn't very good).
