Michigan Monday: Green and #1

This was a good weekend for Wolverine fans.  The #1 running back in the country committed to Michigan and the Michigan Basketball Team should be #1 when the polls are released today.

John Beilein's team struggled a bit with Purdue on Thursday but got a nice win on the road at Illinois on Sunday evening.  Any Big Ten win on the road is a good win and we will take the 14 point win in Champaign last night.    I really don't like the target that being #1 inherits but I do love that Michigan Basketball is back and fun to watch again.

Here is the last time you will see Denard play in the winged helmet.

  • As I predicted Durham Smythe committed to ND this weekend.  So I expect Michigan is done with the 2013 class and will hold the last spot.   Will there be a mystery late offer?

  • There has been some internet buzz that Michigan commit Henry Poggi was on an official visit to Alabama this weekend.  This has come up a couple time and Henry's dad is a coach and was down at Bama for business and Henry came along.  Per the internet, Henry let the Michigan coaches know what was going on.  I hope he was just tagging along with his dad and not having second thoughts.   His dad was adamant that this was just a business trip a few weeks ago.

Re: Poggi - I call bull shit. Makes no sense. Why must he "tag along" on his day's business trip? If I'm dad Poggi, I'm telling my son that he needs to stay home and avoid even tHe appearance of second guessing on his pledge. It's one week before signing day fer Christ sakes... I think Poggi is on an unofficial visit sniffing around. Mits my hope nothing comes of it bc we really need DTs.
