Michigan Friday: Welcomes Va Tech to the Big House

Michigan has signed a home - home contract with Virginia Tech for 2020 (Big House) and 2021 (Lane Stadium).   This is the type of scheduling I'm talking about!   A named opponent that gets to travel to the Big House and a chance for Wolverines players to play in another famous stadium.   Michigan also has a strong alumni and fan base in the Washington DC area (about 200 miles away from DC).   With all the flack I have been giving David Brandon for his poor scheduling skills (UMass, App State and Bama in Dallas) this make a lot of sense. Well Done, Dave!

  • Former Arkansas QB Brandon Mitchell is now considering Michigan as one of his destinations.  Brandon story sounds very similar to Devin Gardner's.  He has been a QB and WR in Arkansas's system and is now looking to play QB full time.   Joe Schad from ESPN had this to say about him considering U of M:  The 6-foot-4, 239-pound Mitchell wants to play quarterback but if he were to go to Michigan he could be utilized as a multi-dimensional weapon because of the presence of quarterback Devin GardnerHe is going to graduate and should be eligible to play right away.  The issue with these situations is most guys are looking to start and not play a back-up role.

  • Trey Burke is going to be represented by his father Benji Burke, and his cousin, Alonzo Shavers.  Alonzo is an NFL Agent.   This is not that big of deal since rookie contracts are pretty much set on your draft spot.  The big issue is, will Benji and Alonzo have the connections to get Trey the big shoe and other endorsement deals?

  • Great story about Vincent Smith and Tae Odoms giving back to the community.  These are proud Michigan Men!

  • Visitors expected in this weekend include:
LB Chase Winovich
DE Lawrence Marshall
LB Michael Ferns
WR Drake Harris
WR Moe Ways
2015 LB Jerome Baker

Monday's headlines could include:   Chase wins the race for the last LB spot or Marshall Law - Lawrence jumps on board as a Wolverine.
