The Final 5

It's difficult to watch your favorite team play in the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments, knowing both are one and done if you lose.  Michigan made another run at glory by making it to another Elite 8 and maybe one basket away from another Final 4.

At 5:00 tonight there were 5 teams still left standing in the NCAA Tournament and one game on national TV.   It was our team, a team that had no business being there after it's pre-season All American went down with a back injury.  That is the same team that won the Big Ten Title by 3 games over the tournament and Vegas favorite MSU and the Final 4 bound Wisconsin Badgers. 

I wouldn't want it any other way.  Michigan Basketball has been down for too long and now it's not only relevant but playing for championships.   This team has been a wonderful example of what a team really is and a pleasant reminder of what we hope the football team will become once again.

This team played well, it played hard and got beat on a last second deep 3 point shot, with Michigan's best defender in his face.   Sometimes that happens and today it did for the Wolverines.  

I wasn't upset after the game, because it was such a good game.  It was a heavy weight fight and Kentucky landed the last punch.   I was sad for the likes of Jordan Morgan, Nik Stauskas, Glen Robinson, and Mitch McGary who all might have put on a maize jersey for the last time.

I know this loss stings on the thought of what might have been, but if it is the last time we see the talented sophomores, they will leave Michigan as Champions and that's what's its all about.
