Michigan Friday: Are Former Players Targeting Brandon?

Greg Henson from WDFN is reporting that 450 former players are asking the regents to remove David Brandon as Michigan athletic director.   He said he has sources who are former Michigan Football Players that are leading this effort.

They have a list of how Brandon has failed in his job.   Maybe the most damning thing is that both Jim Harbaugh and Les Miles wanted the Michigan job and Brandon didn't offer the job to either coach.  That he was worried about both being too high profile.  I can see why he didn't offer Les Miles (age and A2 baggage) and picked Brady Hoke over him.   Not sure I agree with it but I do understand.

If Jim Harbaugh wanted to come to Michigan and he either low balled him or didn't offer him the job, he shouldn't be removed right now.  That is complete incompetence.

I don't know if this report is true or not, but it's really time to clean house at Michigan.   David Brandon is a complete disaster and has alienated everyone (former players, alumni, and season ticket holders).   Many people are reporting that a top tier head coach will not come here unless David is removed as AD.  Other coaches can't believe he watches tape with the Michigan coaches.

Here is John U. Bacon's take of Brandon marketing tactics, ticket give-a-ways and gouging of season ticket holders.

When will all this stuff start affecting recruiting?  Now, Darian Roseboro a Michigan commit is on an official visit to NC State.  Can't blame the kid.

Wojo copes with humor..............

I have no idea when this nightmare is going to end.

This is the time to replace David Brandon, however, it won't be until the end of the season after the new AD is hired that the AD will find a new head coach. As you know, it's difficult to fire a head coach in the middle of a season unless you promote someone as your interim head coach.

Who would that be? Would that be Mattison because of seniority or Nuss with an eye to the possible future? Does Mattison have a chance with his age to show what he can do verses does Nuss deserve a shot with his groups lack of performance? If he's successful with the offense you know he's gone after a year or so to be a head coach somewhere.

Would the new AD actually want Jim Harbaugh or Les Miles to be his or her new head coach? Each AD seems to want to put their own foot print on the football program. Moreover, how difficult would it be to actually find a good, solid head coach? Michigan may not be as attractive as we think that it is. Remember what Martin and Mary Sue had to choose from before coming up with Rich Rod? We were shocked that we didn't have the biggest and the best clamoring for this job.

Does Jim Harbaugh really, really want to coach at Michigan considering how he bashed Michigan when he was competing for recruits at Stanford? I understand some things are merely "coach speak" but there are some things that you just don't say about your alma mater. You keep dirty laundry out of the public eye.

Would Harbaugh feel as though he could win with this group of players or feel the need for a few years to retool? Would he be keeping an eye on another NFL invite if he's fired from the 49ers after accepting a Michigan job? All questions I'm sure we're asking in the back of our minds. IMHO!!!

We need to stick with this team & these kids. Brady can and will turn this around.
GO BLUE!

This team has shown ZERO improvement, the third embarrassment in five games. Brady needs to go, they actually look WORSE than they did against ND and Utah..... Unbelievable!!!

It looks as though even Minnesota has surpassed our team. We've seen a to be determined ND, Utah and now Minnesota team look like world beaters against us. Michigan looks to be going in the wrong direction every week, every year.

Let's look at the decision that Hoke made. He has chosen to start a QB in only his second career start and it's against a B1G team while keeping his 5th year senior QB on the bench. Results...not good.

Michigan doesn't look as though they're able to beat anyone right now. They're being dominated in what seems to be weekly no matter who they play. It may be a long season...again. IMHO!!!
