Wolverine Wendsday: Sounds Like Michigan Has Another Major Injury

Sounds like Michigan could be down another defensive starter on Saturday night when they face ND.   As we know, Jabrill Peppers is "questionable" after hurting his ankle in the first half of the App. State game.  Now the rumor mill is spinning that Desmond Morgan could be out 6 weeks with an arm injury.

Of course we don't have specifics, since Hoke doesn't talk about injuries, which is another reason to believe that Peppers availability on Saturday is high questionable.    Mgoblog readers have reported that Morgan has been seen around campus in a cast on his arm.   This is a major loss for a defense that has to stop Golson in a few days.   If there was one area the Michigan defense didn't play well on Saturday was the MLB play as Michigan gave up a couple big runs for a 100 yard rusher up the middle.    I'm guessing we will see much more James Ross in the middle.

Coach Hoke said that Ray Taylor might have played the best game of his career against App. State.   Which would allow Jordan Lewis or Delonte Hollowell to play nickel, if Peppers can't go.

  • Sounds like Michigan commit Chris Clark is getting "happy feet" again.  He was committed to NC and then de-committed.   He then picked the Wolverines and now might to look around again.  Some have speculated he could be due to Wheat Jr. strongly looking a Michigan.   Of course Wheat plays TE and DE.   I'm sure this will be resolved one way or another after Chris talks with the Michigan coaches.
  • One of the biggest surprises on Saturday in the Big Ten was Northwestern's effort at home against Cal.   One of the reasons might have been the defense was wearing the wrong wrist bands (the ones with the plays on them).
  • It seems Michigan's win on Saturday didn't impress too many people outside of Ann Arbor as Michigan continues to be unranked in both polls.

Something to Ponder:  If Michigan's offensive line can hold up this year and Michigan has a good running game.   Can you imagine what miss matches The Wolverines would have in the passing game with Funchess and when Jake Butt comes back?

Favorite quote of the weekend:  “This game was not what (Michigan) had shown all last year,” said Mountaineers coach Scott Satterfield. “Why they did that, I don’t know. … It was all game. Even the last drive, they were playing man.”
