So the news on courting Jimmy will be pretty light the next few days as the world takes a break for the Christmas holiday. Here is the latest info:
- Sam Webb reported that Hackett was in the Pacific Time Zone earlier this week. Interesting.
- Desmond was asked on the air last night on when Michigan's head coaching job will be filled and he replied, "about this time next week". As mentioned earlier it is expected that Jimmy will be announced next Tuesday in conjunction with the Michigan - Illinois game.
- As soon as I mentioned the twitter handle of Those Who Stay 7, he shut down his account. Interesting.
- Hackett did have his update conference call with the players yesterday and he said to the effect, they are very confident they are in good position to land their first choice but the details need to be finalized. That he will have more to report next week. No name was mentioned. Interesting.
- Michigan also sent a birthday wish to Jimmy over twitter yesterday. Interesting.
- It seems that Coach Nuss is going to Florida to be the OC and former Florida DC DJ Durkin is in a waiting mode: One of the Aggies’ candidates, Florida defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin, is waiting to see whether Harbaugh takes the open Michigan head coaching job, according to a source close to the situation. DJ is a candidate for the Texas AM DC job as well. So he is not taking a job and waiting for Harbaugh. Interesting.
- Marcellus Wiley's source joked that the only way Jimmy doesn't take the Michigan job is if he dies or Michigan shuts down.
How great would that be? Having two qualified DC's on staff and a top notch recruiter!
Here is what I believe the timeline will look like:
- Jimmy coaches the 49'ers on Sunday
- Monday there is some agreed upon separation
- Jimmy is announced or introduced on Tuesday as Michigan's head coach

Thanks fir the solid update on Christmas eve, Bob. You deserve some time off.
How's this for a recruiting pitch to top QB prospects?
"You can go play for the guy that has only developed ONE pro QB in his life (if you want to call Alex Smith a pro QB), or you could come and play for the guy that made Andrew Luckwhat he is today."
Big35~I'd like to read an article about how these coaches like Harbaugh do such great recruiting, do they spend hours looking at film or do they have a network of trusted agents that scour the field passing on special insight? Was Andrew Luck destine to be a great QB or did Harbaugh really mold him, maybe it's just typical both coinside to create greatness. Meyer certainly turns the process up a notch or two faster than any other coach, OSU has more talent on one team than Tressel or Cooper ever dreamed of. Three straight 12 win seasons more than the entire Wolverine history.
