Bellomy and Heitzman Are Both Transferring

Both would have been 5th year seniors and both were below starter level on the depth chart.

Russell Bellomy of course is a senior QB that only real time was a disaster at Nebraska.   Injuries and tearing his ACL meant that Shane Morris was not able to take a redshirt year.

Keith Heitzman played on the DL for most of his career but moved to TE last year to try to get better blocking out of that position.

Both players will be able to play at another school as a 5th year grad transfer.   Thank you both for being Wolverines and good luck at your next school.

My best guess is the current recruiting class now has 15 or 16 open spots.

Bellomy's announcement said he's graduating this spring and then transferring, I hope Heitzman will be getting his degree as well.

Best of luck to both these guys. Clearly their football careers at Michigan were not what they hoped for and dreamed of, but they have a lot to be proud of and a degree and education is at the top of that list.
