Michigan Friday: Last Chance Weekend

This is the last official visit weekend for the 2015 class, which Jimmy and group have had about a month to recruit, even less then that when you consider the dead periods.   So let's recap the visitors and Big House Blog Big Board of Recruits.

Weekend Visitors:

  • Three-star FL CB Jarius Adams who set up this visit weeks ago.  He says he is still good with Rutgers but called Michigan his dream school.  He posted his recruiting board on TomVH's twitter account last night and had Michigan ranked third behind #1 Rutgers and Wisconsin.  We will see how happens this weekend.

  • TN 4 Star WR Van Jefferson got offered this weekend and decided to visit.  He recently committed to Ole Miss but spent a ton of time in Metro Detroit and attended St. Mary's when his dad coached the WR's for the Lions.   This all happened this week, so it will be interesting to see if he has "love" for the Wolverines.

  • 3 Star RB/CB Titus Booker who is currently a Wisconsin commit.  Titus is consider a fast athlete that could play many different positions.  Same situation as above, quick offer and quick visit.    Titus cancelled his visit.

  • 3 Star California WR Deontay Burnett who is currently a Washington State commit.   Offer this week = visit this week.   The insiders are saying, might be a tough flip due to Washington State's pass happy offense.
That's what we know right now for visitors.  Let's hope a couple surprise guys make it on campus.  Mike come down to A2 and spend a few hours on Saturday!

Big House 2015 Big Board

  1. Mike Weber - met with Jimmy this week.  The kid is clearly conflicted and we probably won't know for sure until his letter hits a fax machine in A2 or CBus.
  2. Chris Clark - the #1 TE in the nation is very even between Michigan and UCLA.  One has weather the other is closer to home.  Michigan's offense loves the TE and UCLA doesn't use them.   It's 50/50 and we will find out on NSD.  Jay H just sent him a hand written note.  The best comment I saw on the message boards was, "how about some letterhead?  That looks like a GD ransom note!" :-)
  3. Iman Marshall - just cancelled his visit this weekend to Oregon, which doesn't really matter because they weren't one of his top schools.  Most think it's USC if he wants to stay home, if he leaves the state Michigan is the best shot.  I estimate a 20% shot of him coming to Michigan.
  4. Ty Wheatley Jr. - Will he come home and be in Ann Arbor with his family?  Or does he want to pave his own path?  This has been a very quiet recruitment.
  5. Roquan Smith - a LB that DJ Durkin pulled in for a visit.  Michigan wasn't even in his recruitment a few weeks ago.  Most believe he is headed for GA but if he leaves the state, many believe Michigan is the destination.   I give this one a 40% shot to A2.
  6. Chris Williamson - Jimmy visited yesterday and he is announcing on Monday.  This kid went from two offers at Thanksgiving and now has two dozen.  He has a 4 star offer sheet but ranked as a 3 star.   Hottest southern un-committed recruit right now.  He visits Florida this weekend.
  7. Damon Arnette - South Carolina commit and will visit OSU this weekend.   Another guy that has really blown up since New Year's Day.
  8. Jake Pickard - being recruited as a DE and his dad cried when they walked into the Big House.  They are taking their time, but he could flip anytime now.   I don't think Michigan takes Wheat and Pickard. So Jake not being committed right now could be a sign?
  9. Van Jefferson - Michigan could use another WR in this class and I think they push hard to get him to commit this weekend.  I hope dad is with him and they make a Blue decision.
  10. Titus Booker - I think the coaches like his speed and versatility - could be the next Norfleet
  11. Matt Synder - Probably will stay with Nebraska if Clark comes to Ann Arbor.
  12. Jarius Adams - Michigan wants another CB in this class and I think the coaches will give Adams a chance to commit this weekend.  If he leaves A2 without that commitment, I think Michigan will focus on Arnette and Williamson.

Signing Day Surprise?
One of the fun things about NSD is will Michigan flip a guy that was headed to a lesser school.   Norfleet comes to mind.   Here is my thoughts about guys would could get offered on NSD or right before if things don't work out.

  • Dior Johnson - 4 star safety from Southfield.  No Michigan or MSU offers and just committed to Minnesota flipped from Wake Forrest.   Michigan hasn't really been looking at him but would guess he would jump at an offer.

  • John Kelly picked Tennessee because he wants to play RB in college.  John and Mike Weber are close and if Mike were to flip would John think about coming to Michigan to play CB?  If Mike doesn't come to A2, would Michigan offer him as a RB?
