Michigan Tuesday: Time To See What We Got

Mgoblue
Tomorrow is the big day and it's time to see where Michigan is in play and where they are not.   I will also give you my take on the following scale:

>Trending Blue - Looks good for a Michigan decision
>Coin Flip - 50/50 Michigan decision
>Trending Other - Michigan has a shot but Insiders feel he might go somewhere else
>Hail Mary - Little chance for a Blue decision

Here we go..........................

Headliners
  • Mike Weber - Keeping quiet about his final decision.  Michigan is in play but how much?  I'm sure its a very tough decision for him.   Coin Flip
  • Chris Clark - Guy loves the recruiting process and has been buying what Jim Mora as been selling.  UCLA doesn't use TE's but they have weather and other perks.  I think he loves Michigan in his heart.   Coin Flip
  • Roquan Smith - Michigan late player in his recruitment thanks to DJ Durkin.  Those guys haven't been committing.  I don't expect this one either.  Trending Other
  • Iman Smith - The hometown pull to USC is way too much for Michigan to over come.  Hail Mary
  • Ty Wheatley Jr.  - This has been one quiet recruitment.  He could go anywhere but I'm expecting him in this class, so he can be with family.  Trending Blue
Top Prospects
  • Van Jefferson - Was a late visitor this past weekend.  It seems he took an official to visit old friends for free.  Most believe he will stick with Ole Miss. On a positive note, he did change his twitter profile picture to a picture of the RenCen. His recruitment has been a roller coaster ride (commit to GA, Visits and trending to OK, Commits to Ole Miss, Visits A2)  Trending Other
  • Jarius Adams - Same situation as Van, left this weekend still committed to Rutgers and plans to stick with his commitment. Probably should be in the "Peace Out" section.  Trending Other
  • Grant Perry - Is this years Norfleet Instate Last Minute Offer Award winner.   Jimmy called him on Sunday the last day he could make a phone call.  He was committed to Northwestern and de-committed yesterday.   Trending Blue  Update:  Commit

He is 6'0 and 180 pounds and Alex Malzone's #1 target at Brother Rice last year.  He is a 3 star WR with Northwestern and MAC offers.   He seems to be headed for a slot WR position.   Sam Webb called him a faster Drew Dileo.   Grant is known for his route running and good hands.
Peace Out

Williamson - Florida
Arnette - OSU
Burnett - Wash St. or ASU (seems like a bad decision to pull the offer)
Higdon - expected to stay with Iowa

Expected to Sign

Andrew David
John Runyan Jr.
Tyree Kinnel
Grant Newsome
Zach Gentry
Ruben Jones
Nolan Ulizio

Brian Cole and Alex Malzone already enrolled

Overall

Michigan's upside is 3 from the headliner group Weber, Clark and Wheat.   Michigan's downside would be a shut out.   Grant Perry is rumored to be one of the "Bang Bang" guys.   The other is a  guess.  The edge of the Internet is saying a 6'5 TE transfer from Oklahoma who caught one pass for 4 yards in 3 years.   Let's hope it was someone like Wheat or Clark.

Losing out on all the CB's this past month hurts, as it seems Michigan wanted two more.   NSD could be a huge day or a huge collapse depending on how guys decide.   The news from Clarks camp is not good and it's really hard to know what Weber is going to do.    Those two guys can make or break this entire class.

Michigan in the past has not finished well on NSD.  Let's hope the new staff has a couple Aces up their sleeve.   (I think some of the late offers, shows they might not).    It's not fair to say this was a positive or negative past month as this staff only had a month to recruit (even less with the dead periods) and 2016 will be the true test.   Still, I think we would all agree we had hoped for a couple more guys in this class.

It will be a wild ride tomorrow and we will know pretty early how were trending with Clark's announcing at 8:30.  Here are the announcement times for Michigan targets on ESPN U (all times EST) on Wednesday:
  • Chris Clark 8:30
  • Roquan Smith: 11:00
  • Iman Marshall: 4:00
  • (Wheat is expected in the afternoon, no TV that I know of)

I will be live positing as the LOI's are confirmed in at Schembechler Hall and off course any commits that take place.

If the bang and bang were perry and wheatly, it would seem very anti-climatic.

I'm still hoping for some splash, but again, with the coaches trying to make up the gap in a month vs coaches who've been building relationships with these kids for two years... whatever we end up with is pretty good. Class 2016 will be a haul, that i feel confident in!

I agree, I still would like the Wheat commit if that did happen. Sam Webb thinks there is a good shot at Michigan getting Weber. Which is good news, but I will believe it when I see he has faxed his LOI to A2.

Clark seems to be trending to UCLA. Too bad Jimmy can't get on the phone with him one more time.

No way I can see Clark not coming here.

The kid that would be the "best get" for us IMO would be Iman Marshall. We need him badly.

@JayHarbaugh was tweeting out some excitement yesterday, but he didn't name names. That gives me a little bit of an impression that they know of a few big names coming tomorrow but they want to make that BIG SPLASH. I can really see that happening and GO BLUE being the talk of CFB tomorrow. (I'll put the koolaid down now)

If Clark goes to UCLA, he'll be transferring to Michigan before his SR year. Either he'll learn UCLA doesn't throw to TE's, or Mora will leave for the NFL and he'll be regretting his decision.

Maybe Ty Issac can give him a shout out.

If Clark was committing to UCLA, I'd think he'd do it at a time when they'd be able to see it...not at 5:30am (PST). Am I wrong?

Vinnie, I'm sure that is an EPSN thing more then a UCLA/Michigan thing.

I'm crossing my fingers Bob! :)

247 sports is projecting Michigan to get Three of the headliners...

Wheatley is the easy one, Clark is probably 2nd most likely....

if we do get three, that's the BOMB!

Scott, That would be a huge day!! Here is hoping for a NSD Hat Trick. BTW: There is some news from Rivals that Stanford DB Wayne Lyons might be looking to transfer to Michigan as a grad transfer. He is a starter and a 3rd team PAC 12 type of guy. Would be a very nice pick up if true.

The dark horse might be the prize of the day. I remember when Norfleet committed, it was out of left field, NO ONE was talking about him... I believe he could have really blossomed under the right coaching staff.

Hopefully we do get two or even three headliners, and another surprise.
