Michigan Tuesday: Our Rock Star Coach - Now Has Tour Dates!

I think we all are Hungry! Nice work BTN.

  • As you know, Michigan has a summer camp on campus each year where they invite some of the top prospects in, so they can get a taste of what it's like to be coached by the Wolverine staff.  The NCAA is now allowing programs to do out of state camps.  I believe Penn State started doing these last year.  In another innovated recruiting move, the Michigan coaches will be hitting the road this year and doing 6 camps across the country in the following locations:
June 5th in Prattville (Alabama)
June 6th in Tampa
June 7th in Pennsylvania
June 8th in Houston
June 9th in Dallas
June 10th in California

This will be a great opportunity for Michigan to connect with players/recruits that are not able to attend a camp in Ann Arbor.   Love the move and another benefit of having a Rock Star coach.   He will make headlines in everyone of those locations.
  • #1 player in the nation NJ DT Rashan Gary visited this past weekend.  His old high school coach is now on Michigan's staff.   Most expect that this is a Michigan - OSU battle for his services.  Michigan also offered his teammate and fellow visitor DE Corey Bolds who is a prospect in the 2017 class.

  • There is some thinking that this weekend might bring a chain reaction of commits from the talent rich local in-state recruits.   These guys have been regular visitors to campus and are expected to be in the Big House this Saturday:  Donnie Corley, Des Fitzpatrick, Michael Jordan, Khalid Kareem, Matt Falcon, David Reese, Michael Onwenu, and Demetric Vance.  Many of these guys are close friends about would like to play together in college.   We haven't had one of those crazy commit weekends for a couple of years and it would be great if this weekend was one of them!   Usually, when you predict these type of things they don't happen.   So we will see if the Spring Game starts to make an impact on these guys.   For the record, it doesn't seem like Falcon or Corley is very close to a commitment.  Fitzpatrick and Reese are probably the top two on commit watch this weekend.

  • With KJ Costello off the board to Stanford, Michigan will now set it's sights on other QB's in this class.   The next best prospect, who is also expected this weekend is Indiana QB Brandon Peters.
