Michigan Friday: Updates Wolverine Shoe Wars

Michigan AD Jim Hackett had a meeting with the regents yesterday and said publically that: "No decision has been made" regarding a new apparel vendor.   The rumor keeps spinning that Michigan has some sort of agreement (verbal or written) with Nike.   With the large money that Adidas and UA have spent and the lack of money Nike has spent, you should take those rumors with a grain of salt.  I'm sure Nike is Michigan's first choice, but they won't throw away $10M a year difference between contracts.    Let's see if Nike has opened their wallets to the Wolverines.

Expect a decision in the next couple of weeks.

  • 2016 4 star tackle EJ Price who had Michigan has his leader for a short time before he committed to Georgia, has now de-committed from Georgia.   With Michigan's commits and prospects on the O-Line, I'm not sure this will effect the Wolverines.

  • Devin Gill, teammate of very recent Michigan committed player Josh Metellus, tweeted out that today was going to be a big day.   Could he be committing or just going to Chuck E Cheese?

  • Side Note:  The US Open is on Fox and Fox Sports 1 will have the Wolverines opener?  I guess that network is stepping up!

  • Three-star FL OLB Jonathan Jones is visiting A2 this weekend.  He is officially on commit watch.

  • Next Wednesday Michigan will host 4 -2016 4 star players:  four star PA TE Naseir Upshur, four star NJ WR Ahmir Mitchell, four star NJ WR Brad Hawkins, and four star NJ DE Ron Johnson.

  • The #1 player in the nation Rashan Gary is expected to take another visit to A2 on 6/25 with his mom.
