Michigan Thursday: More and More Commits and A Possible Transfer

Ok, the commitment train continues to roll through Ann Arbor and doesn't seem to be stopping soon.  In fact, it's a little hard to keep up on all the things happening with the program and this being June 18th, that's impressive.

Lets get to the first commitment yesterday:

Michigan landed one of it's top players on the board when Wisconsin OL Ben Bredeson committed to the Wolverines.   Ben was being recruited by just about everyone, he had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Wisconsin, ND, OK, MSU, OSU and many more.

He is a rated just outside of 5 star land on all the sites and considered one of the best offensive lineman in this class.   He is 6'4 and 280 pounds and could play guard or tackle at Michigan.   Rivals ranks him as the #1 recruit in Wisconsin and the #49 player in the country.   He is Michigan's highest ranked recruit to date.

Michigan has a secret weapon in his recruitment as his brother will be an incoming freshman on the baseball team next season.

This is a huge get for the Wolverines who are building the best offensive line class in the country.   If some of these lower ranked prospects committing to Michigan doesn't really excite you for the future, this guy should!!

Commit #2:

Michigan filled an need in their recruiting class with a Safety commit from Pembroke Pines (FL) Flanagan Josh Metellus.  Josh is 6'0 and 185 pounds and the attended the Michigan camp in South Florida last week .

Josh also has 2 other high school teammates that are very interested in Ann Arbor and the Wolverines.  Both Devin Bush Jr. and Devin Gil have Michigan very high on their list and all 3 prospects visited A2 last weekend after the SMSB camp in Detroit.

Josh is barley ranked by the recruiting services and just a two star prospect to Rivals and Scouts.
This is another situation where the coaches saw him live and liked what they saw.  His offer list included the likes of FIU, Miami (OH), Midd. Tennessee State, and South Alabama.

Josh fills a need at safety and could pull his teammates with him!!

Michigan now has #16 commits in this class and they might have to build another dorm to fit them all in.  My guess is we are going to hear about a number of guys moving on from the current roster.

  • Transfer alert!  Remember a player in 2014 class that blew up really late in his recruitment?  His name is Jhonathon Williams from Berrien Springs, Michigan.  He de-committed from Missouri and many thought was headed to Ann Arbor when he pulled a quick decision to commit to ND.    Things didn't work out in South Bend, he got his release and will visit Ann Arbor today.
