Michigan Monday: Looks Ahead at Indiana and Celebrates a New Commit

Let's do a quick look ahead for IU before we talk about the Carlo commit to next year's class.

Game time will be 3:30 EST on ABC.   IU is on a 5 game losing streak and 4-5 overall.  They played Iowa tough last weekend but took another loss.   They have yet to win a game in Big Ten play this year.   Their best win was over Wake Forest and a close loss to Ohio State.

IU's defense ranks 115th in the nation in giving up 37 points per game.   ESPN Big Ten Power Rankings has Hoosiers #11.  Indiana will be looking for their 6th win to get to a bowl game and have Maryland and Purdue after the Wolverines.

Michigan opens as a 11.5 favorite.

Don't be fooled, IU always plays the Wolverines tough and let's hope the Harbaugh factor pushes the Wolverines to a victory.

--------------------

Michigan on Sunday also welcomed another pass rusher to the 2016 class with 4 star DE Carlo Kemp. Carlo picked the Wolverines over ND on Sunday afternoon.    Carlo is 6'3 and 250 pounds and had offers from the likes of ND, UCLA, Wisconsin, Washington, Nebraska, Colorado, ASU and many others.   Carlo is ranked the top prospect from the state of Colorado.

As you will see below, Jimmy considers him an elite pass rusher and was really excited to be heading to Ann Arbor.   As most true freshman head for a red shirt, with the depth issues at the Buck position could propel Kemp into playing time as a freshman.

Carlo is related to Coach Pagano head coach from Indianapolis Colts and John Pagno the DC from San Diego Chargers.

This was a big get for the Wolverines at a position of need.  This is the 22nd commitment for the class and there are 6+ spots left.   It will be interesting to see who sticks and who might gray shirt.

I find it interesting that one year ago everyone was saying that the 2016 would be small, maybe 12-13. Suddenly Michigan will now take 28-30. What gives? I know a few have left and there is always early entry, but that doesn't make up the difference. I'm confused.

Damn it..... did Sparty lose a game on a fluke of a play? that's heartbreaking!!!

at least it was a ranked, quality opponent. Oh wait, i guess it wasn't.

Now Jim and crew have their fate back in their hands, one game at a time!

GO BLUE

Renegade: from what I understand Jimmy anticipates attrition at end of year and maybe he does not grant some players a 5th year.

My main concern is this...will Jimmy start cutting players like SEC (especially Saban) and Urban Lier have done for years??

Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

The fact that he offered Falcon a 'non-athletic' scholarship, and the kid isn't even enrolled in school yet, would lead me to believe Jim wouldn't play those cutthroat games.

I would hope that the NCAA addresses the practice of pulling scholarships at some point. Urban liar threw several players off scholarship this summer, because they were medically unable to perform. My guess is most if not all of them were injured competing for his football team.

My GF played div. II basketball and her scholarship was for 4 years, she could only lose it by failing classes or if kicked off the team for disciplinary reasons.

There are a few guys on the current commit list that are either not expected to stay in the class or could get a gray shirt. As Tim says, there are guys that are 5th year guys that will not be asked back. I don't expect cuts but if your a senior and not playing, my guess is your not going to be asked back for your 5th year.
