Wolverine Wednesday: Recruiting Tidbits and A Nice Win

It seems the worst kept secret is that Michigan will play LSU in the Citrus Bowl for the bowl game, it will be interesting to see if Michigan can stop another NFL quality RB game or not.    Les vs. his the team he played for should pull a few viewers on New Years Day.

  • Keyshon Camp, who paid his own way to the Michigan - OSU game and a USC commit, confirmed his committed to the Trojans after they hired Clay Helton as the full time HC.  Seems the cold weather and his relationship with Clay was the difference.   I wonder how many spots Michigan has left in the class anyway.  (one for sure for Mr. Gary)

  • The Big Ten took two days to announce the Big Ten First Team players, Michigan players on the team included:  Peppers (Freshman of the Year), Butt (TE of the Year), Chesson and Lewis.

  • The coaches are out on the road to visit recruits and commitments before Bowl Practice begins.  DJ Durkin is on the road recruiting for Michigan, don't know if that is a good or bad sign regarding the Maryland HC job.

  • Coach Wheat was out to see RB Kareem Walker on Monday, it seemed to have gone well!  I also believe the coaches were in NJ to visit Gary as well.

  • Newest commit Jordan Elliot hosted Texas for an in-home and then shut down home visits for all coaches not associated with the University of Michigan.  Michigan is expected in his home on Thursday.

  • Michigan is starting to search for a permanent AD.   I think Jim Hackett has had one of the best year's an AD that I can ever remember.   He deserves some special recognition when he steps away from the role.

I'm very nervous about the LB position in recruiting and in future years for the Wolverines.   Next year is looking like Gedeon, Furbush, McCray, and Winovich.  I'm sure the coaches are in the ear of the likes of Dontavious Jackson and Bush Jr. on early playing time.

I didn't get to watch the Michigan Basketball game last night but that is a nice win over an ACC team on the road.  Hopefully, Michigan is finding it's stride and lineup after the Xavier and UConn losses.

Michigan plays Central Florida next year and they just hired former Nebraska QB and Oregon OC Scott Frost as their head coach.  He has some work to do as the Knights were 0-12 this year.

Georgia hired Alabama's DC Kirby Smart, not sure how that will effect the recruitment of Nauta and Hardman.  My guess is Michigan has a better shot with Nauta.

What a statement if Jim can land 2 of the three #1 position recruits: Gary, Walker, Nauta

Of course it'd be awesome to land all three. I have a bad feeling with Gary going to visit SEC country yet. Hopefully his momma goes with him and prevents any $500 handshakes. Walker seems like he's going to be Jim's revenge for the Weber incident. Nauta should have taken notice of Butt's season and what more could he be looking for?

GO BLUE

Gary, Nauta and Walker all should choose the Wolverines simply because all three would probably start next year and with what Harbaugh and staff can do with a team like they did this year, it would be crazy to go elsewhere. Oh did I mention how he will bring out the best in them and to the pro,s they go. P.s. Jackson and Bush Jr.as well

News is breaking Durkin to MD. what a train wreck.. Coach Durkin, expect three or four seasons of never seeing 7 wins, then being fired from your first HC job.

Who in their right mind would take that as a first HC job?

I wonder if Jim's on the phone with Scott Shafer right now.
