Michigan Tuesday: Recruiting News Doesn't Stop

Minus One:

Rashad Weaver de-commits after not having much contact with the Michigan staff and receiving a call from Jimmy saying there is a 50/50 shot there would be a room for him on NSD.    This of course is not new news and was 100% expected.   The insiders believed Weaver's offer always included an asterisk that if there was enough space in the class for him.  So even though he takes a shot at Jimmy and staff  he has known for months he wasn't going to be part of the class and has used his status as a Michigan commit to get other offers and visits.

I expect he will end up at South Florida (Harbaugh coaching tree) or Temple.

Mike Dwumfour commits to Michigan right after he de-commits from Penn State.   This is another great sign on reeling in the biggest fish in 2016 class, Rashan Gary.   Mike and Gary are best friends and now Mike is coming to Ann Arbor.

Mike is 6'2 and 285 pounds and is a 3 star prospect to all the services.  He is a Willie Henry/Mo Hurst type of player who is a bit raw right now.  Once Mattison coaches him up, he could be an NFL draft prospect like Big Willie in a few years.    He is a guy Don Brown was recruiting at BC as well.   His offer list includes:  PSU, Rutgers, Wake, WVU, BC, Army and Iowa.   I love getting guys like this on the D-Line as Michigan loves to rotate players there a ton to keep the defense fresh.   I expect he is headed for a much needed redshirt.   Their is a bit of talk, that he isn't 100% fully qualified yet but is close.

The best news is Mike's commitment makes it even harder for Gary to go anywhere but A2.

Announcements coming:

  • Jordan Fuller is going to announce on Monday
  • Khaleke Hudson is announcing tomorrow: Michigan, Pitt, PSU and UCLA
  • Connor Murphy is announcing on NSD
  • K Quinn Nordin will also announce on NSD

-2016 TE Nick Eubanks is planning a mid-week visit to Ann Arbor tomorrow.   Tick Toc Chase!!!

-Big safety prospect Isaiah Simmons is also planning a mid-week visit this week as well.

-Texas Center transfer Raulerson is going to UCLA, I guess the issue was getting into Ross School of Business for his MBA.

Going to be a great finish on NSD!!

Now the NJ writers are bashing JH for the Weaver incident... Added to the Illinois writers they are taking their shots...

Dantonio took his this morning.. Oh well...

24 commits with 21 open spots...

I think the 85 man ship rule is by first game or first day of school it must be 85.... So it could take some time for others to make it...

There are those who are really afraid of the machine that Jim Harbaugh is building. Let's be real, even the media types are partial to some school's program while they hate other programs. Harbaugh and Michigan are back into the spot light and in a big way and not everyone likes it. Harbaugh has been doing some “in your face” recruiting and that unnerves the competition. Therefore, every little thing that they “think” they see wrong they use try to knock down and pile onto a coach and a program that they hate. They are using the power of the pen to persuade the weak minded portion of the public to hate and pile on as well.

I don't begrudge any of the kids that are disappointed about not receiving a Michigan scholarship after they were told that they "may" not have a committable scholarship when NSD comes around. Let's be real, if a Michigan, Alabama, OSU, Oklahoma, etc. offer the 2500th rated high school player in the country a scholarship they will accept it and then brag that they have one. When it becomes common knowledge that they will not make it to NSD then they're feelings are hurt. The smart kids see the writing on the wall ahead of time and start to look for a good place to land, while the unfortunate others trash the coach and the institution because they can't read the writing or don’t want to read it.

And let's face it, of course coaches like Dantonio want Michigan to take the weaker players because it weakens the program. Michigan isn't doing anything wrong, illegal or immoral. In fact, Michigan is more ethical than most if not all of the power 5 schools that have recruiting practices that may be borderline at best.

You've heard me say it before and I'll say it again, a year ago we wanted Harbaugh to come and save our program, and now he has to bring in the best players in the country in order to do that. He is doing that...so let's support him and let him do his job. IMHO!!!

I can only hope that in the future the players are clearly, succinctly, and objectively told where they stand. It appears that at best there was a lack of clarity.

Maybe some didn't see it, Weaver gave a shout out to UM and Harbaugh today. Said no hard feelings and Harbaugh is building HIS team. Classy move. And like many have stated, we will only hear one side of any story.

Where is Paul Harvey and "The rest of the story" when you want him the most? Getting only one side allows for so much spin...

Anyone know where Gary's last visit will be?

Baltimore High School HC Biff Poggi (father of commit Henry) mulling over offer to join JH

Thought I heard last month that Devin Bush father or Uncle was also considering

Yes, there was talk of Bush's father joining the staff filling the spot Partridge was in, but I think that was mostly speculation of sports writers.
