Wolverine Wednesday: Some Odds and Ends

  • Michigan Baseball now has 40 wins this year, the first time since 2008.

  • Toledo LB Dallas Grant committed to OSU yesterday, even though his dad is a Michigan fan, OSU has been recruiting Dallas for a year and Michigan just offered in January.

  • Tone deaf Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany gets a $20M bonus, after being surprised at the negative feedback on Friday night games.   This bonus of course includes a booster payment for the hiring of the referee's for the Michigan - OSU game.

  • ND has finally paid off Charlie Weiss, what a great investment!

  • Quotes about Taco and Cowboys DC relationship with Greg Mattison.
Tremendous person, high character, loves football,” Marinelli said. “That’s all of the things you’re looking for. And he’s got some talent. Now it’s about the grind.

“He’s really a good athlete, very good athlete, and then he’s got length. Really good length. He’s long and lean and he’s just going to get stronger and stronger.”

“I feel like they’ve got very similar coaching styles,” Charlton said. “When Coach Mattison was (coaching) at Florida (2005-07), he would go down and visit Coach Marinelli when he was at Tampa (as the Bucs’ assistant head coach/defensive line coach). So they already had kind of a relationship and he felt like I was in great hands. He’ll push me to that next level and get me where I want to be.”

That Charlie Weiss contract was mind-boggling...also somewhat of the same deal was the lengthy contract between Ohio State and John Cooper. After the 3/3 tie, Cooper got a contract (of many years), only for Ohio State to suddenly get rid of him... What makes this idiotic was Cooper was walking "the plank" before the 3-3 tie.

Is Dallas related to Tony Gant who played for Bo and his son Allen Gant who left the program with a year of eligibility left?

HSH, I thought that when I read his name at first, but no I don't believe Dallas is related to Tony.
