Trap Aware

Mike Mulholland | MLive.com
Michigan players and coaches either realized IU was a trap game or they didn't care.   As the Wolverines cruised to a victory in Bloomington on Saturday evening.  The Michigan offense finally figured out they have an NFL receiver in Nico Collins and throwing him the ball often makes a lot of sense.

Shea who never had a 300 yard passing game as a Wolverine, had his second in a row as he and his teammates used the pass to dismantle it's over matched foe.  It wasn't a perfect game and another reason why we do Cheers and Jeers.

Cheers
  • Shea Patterson was very good again
  • Nico is a first round talent WR
  • More Giles Jackson please
  • Good pass protection by the Oline
  • Defense line played well
  • Strong coaching and adjustments
  • Dax with a pick in his first start
Jeers
  • I thought the CB's played poorly
  • Will Hart had his worst game in memory
  • Slow start on defense and 14 early points for IU
  • Too many penalities
  • End of the first half was confusing
  • Running game didn't get over a 100 yards
Michigan had anything they wanted in the passing game, so why run?  But when they did, they weren't very effective.  HH ran hard and Charbonett broke a nice run but Michigan finished the day with 87 total yards on the ground.   In fact, IU had more rushing yards with 97.

I also don't know what Michigan was doing at the end of the half?  It was like they were trying to run the clock down with out being in field goal range.   They punt the ball with 3 time outs and basically just let IU run the clock out.    With Michigan having basically a buffet of anything they wanted in the IU secondary, I don't know why they weren't more aggressive in scoring at that point in the game with also getting the 2nd half kick.

OSU comes to town next week with only pride and traditional on the line.  They have already qualified for the Big Ten Championship game with their win on Saturday.  In reverse fashion, Penn State actually gave Michigan some tape on how to score on the Buckeyes.  OSU still remains one of the best and most talented teams in the nation and Michigan is playing their best football of the season.   Let's hope its a competitve game and one Michigan has a chance to win.

A really nice win saturday, the new offense is emerging and looking good. I'm am impressed how the season ended compared to what I expected at the beginning. I'm am optimistic that Saturday's game will be competitive and hopefully we can get a turnover or two & pull the upset.

For Saturday, 30% chance of light rain... 45% chance of us winning, Ohio State can be beaten.

Harbaugh has to run plays that other teams shown to work against Ohio State... Harbaugh in the past used his best plays, but Ohio State was ready for them...

I do believe Michigan Man is True Blue, sometimes misunderstood, but he did almost predict the exact score of Michigan/Michigan State. Like Rodney King said, "can't we just get along?"

Yes that's every year but what happens when he play the big boys?... when you go back and look at the stats and data when we played Ohio State and Penn State and some of the other good team it's mind-numbing....

MichiganMan said...

Go back several years and get the Stats and data when we played the top teams you will see how bad of a defense we have...

szanreno said...

Always easy to cherry pick, Michign schedule this year is currently 4th toughest so....

MichiganMan said...

Listen to We are Michigan we supposed to dominate less inferior teams, therefore, it makes our defense look better than it really is...

Blue for Life

We have dominated them, what's your point? I don't see how you can be "Blue for life" when all you do is piss and moan. And please don't take the cowards way out and tell me I'm one of those that doesn't want to hear criticism. Fire this guy, fire that guy Bla bla bla.

Listen my friend once upon a time I was a fan like you every time someone criticized Michigan I used to get all offended but now that I see the reality I don't take a loss as bad as I did before.... here's my advice to you once you accept the reality it makes life so much easier

You don't take a loss and bad as before but you want people to lose their job over one. Interesting take. Oh and I'm not your friend.

This argument reminds me of two dinosaurs fighting like hell, not realizing they are moments away from being snuffed out be an asteroid.

What I am trying to say is NCAA had to try to get ahead of paying college players (because so many states already approved bills so they can receive compensation).

The situation will get out of hand and destroy the college atmosphere of "win won for the Gipper"... recruiting will be based on where the player can make the most money... soon I will give up entirely of college football.

It's going to be like the jumping carp in the Mississippi river system,
Farmers were allowed to have the jumping carp in they ponds to clean the bottoms. A thousand year flood in the nineties released them into the river system.

It's just a matter of time before they get into Great Lakes. So what am I saying??? Yeah, it sounds great players can make money. but it's going to have severe unintended consequences

Tom Brady is a Michigan hero, but he is adamant that players be paid. I want Brady to take a small boat up and down the Mississippi River, and one jumps up and slaps him in the head, and knocks some sense into him.

Maybe I am over reacting, but all the rich alumni will be offering 100,000's soon. You do not think possible??... wait for the first player to crack one million (will happen)

When they start paying college players this old dinosaurs going to jump ship right behind you.
