Michigan Tuesday: New Commit JaDen McBurrows

This news was a bit under the radar on Friday when JaDen committed.   There was a lot of reasons for that, the NFL Draft was happening and Michigan's fan base rarely gets excited about a 3 star commit.  If I could put the Michigan's fan base thoughts on recruiting into one sentence it would be this:  "OSU is stealing recruits from the NFL, Michigan is stealing recruits from the Ivy League."

Another thing to remember is not all 3 stars are the same.  Basically, 3 stars is now where everyone gets pooled if your clearly not a 4 or 5 star talent.  That is the case I make to you for JaDen McBurrows.

  • McBurrows plays for a one of the best high school programs in the nation in Florida's St. Thomas Aquinas.
  • Recruited by new LB coach Brian Jean-Mary who clearly has strong relationships in Florida.
  • McBurrows has been flying up recruiting boards for many top tier programs since January.
  • Offer list included:  Alabama, LSU, OSU, Miami, FSU, PSU, and many more.
So why still a 3 star?  His head coach explains:
“Ja’Den didn’t play significant time prior to the 2019 season,” Aquinas coach Roger Harriot told The Michigan Insider. “As a result, he didn’t receive much attention or recognition. Last season was his debut as a starter, and he performed exceptionally well. He exceeded expectations on defense and special teams as a returner.”

“Ja’Den is an extremely talented player and an even better person,” said Harriot. “From a football standpoint, he’s a student of the game with elite football acumen, and great instincts between the whistle. On defense he can shut down an entire side of the field and is also a dynamic returner on special teams. As a person he is a brother to his teammates and leads by example. The strengths he possesses as a player are love for his team, passion for the game, intelligence, size, athleticism, physicality, and speed.”

Welcome JaDen!

  • Michigan is trending for 2021 4 star OT Drew Kendall from MA.

I must be getting to old for this stuff.... as soon as I got to “an extremely talented kid” I checked out bob.... give the fans that don’t know more history of the team on days like this, or ways on how we can improve, can the fans help? Are spring games a thing of the future? Should we cut the top level of football down to the power 5? Don’t get me wrong you do great of course and you have raised many good questions, but all these kids say the same things, the coaches say the same things, the media asks the same questions, maybe that’s just the way sports are now? Does anyone think we are above PSU, Wisconsin and Minnesota? Are we the defining #2 team in the BIG 14 or not?

Man let me tell you something...we are garbage.... we just never hired a coach who is up to 21st century... they are all coaching 1920 style football... that's why you see some of the 3rd tire programs are moving pass us.... show my share on American Axle & TENNECO... wait for my total gain at the end of the week

Newsflash... "Mich" "Man" believes UofM is garbage. Shocking.

Equally shocking, he cannot spell, and he believes stocks that currently are tracking the overall market shows some inherent wisdom as an investor.

How did UM and osu have the same number of draft picks if we pull from different talent pools? Seriously.
Stock chasers and lottery players are all the same, they either make money or break even. Just ask em. I'll let you know at the end of the week. hahaha... Me too.

Nice story on Glasgow. He's the third Glasgow brother to Walk On at UM and end up being drafted. UM has had several Walk Ons end up on NFL rosters. So maybe what UM does is bring out the real potential of it's recruits. Some 5-stars arrive with loads of talent but lack the nutts and discipline to thrive. Perhaps the UM coaches understand ability better than some of you moron armchair QBs that open your pie holes and stupidity pours out.

I'm amused by Michigan Man's outrage. He's convinced nothing will change until Harbaugh is fired, yet he reads a daily blog dedicated to Michigan football. If I may offer a word of advice to you MichiganMan, take a break from reading the blog until Michigan fires Harbaugh. Until that happens, I think you're only torturing yourself. And I use "only yourself" loosely, because your constant whining is annoying the hell out of me. Cheers!

We're still not on Ostate level yes we had the same amount of draftees but ours was in 5,6,7 theirs was in 1,2,3,4 Don Brown needs to go we need top 4* and 1or2 5* players not so many 3* with potential.

I would like to know what the players that have played for both Harbaughs think of Jim....I made my peace with Harbaugh, he is not leaving, everyone knows what we are and most seem to be ok with it.... Michigan has incredible records against most of the top teams in college football and all of the big 14 teams...we just do not have championships, things could be much worse and much better... imagine being a MSU fan, or Nebraska, it’s nice to know that we are only a qb and head coach away (most teams are) from being in the final four...

Btw Rudy! Coaches are suppose to teach NUTS and DISCIPLINE! None of the Glasgow’s were very good players, great guys that played hard yes...

You've obviously never played sports nor know shit about it. Coaches teach technique, processes and plans. They can't teach heart, can only hope to spot it when recruiting. They can enforce discipline, but if a kid has no self discipline....then again, he'll fall short. Coaches can build on the talents a kid has but can't "teach" it.

How about some of you guys take a break... I'm not going to mention anyone's name but it does applies to those that think we won the championships for the past 5 years..

Wow it all comes to this as long as we have 10 plus players make the NFL I guess it doesn't matter if we win 8 games a year.... did I mention that are bunch of delusional fans here

Rudy.... coaches lead by example... they can teach heart... they can teach discipline... and they should be able to see if a kid would have some to start with... keep kissing Harbaughs ass bro...kids cannot be taught talent? what a moron.... every skill In the world takes some sort of knowledge first... when a coach inspires you the right way you find heart! Some kids don’t know they have the talent they have.... that’s why you have a coach.... to teach skills (talents) .... you just want to be one of the guys that says “see! I stuck with him and he won finally... (if he ever does)
