Fools Maize

I started to think that last weekend's win wasn't so good after Minnesota lost to Maryland on Friday night.   That theory was cemented with a horrific performance against an MSU team that played perfect this afternoon.

Michigan got beat in every aspect of the game and didn't do anything well.

Cheers:

  • Michigan didn't turn the ball over
  • Made a field goal
  • Defense did an OK job against the run
Jeers:

  • Michigan's CB's are way worse then we thought.   If Michigan can't prefect a zone this team isn't going to stop anyone in the passing game.
  • No pressure all day,  MSU's QB had all day and picked apart the Wolverines secondary
  • The Michigan coaches got out coached all over the field
  • Michigan didn't throw the ball down field , it was all dink and dunks
  • No running game
  • I wanted to jump through the TV screen when Haskins threw that pass.  Those 4 points where the difference in the game.  First of all, if you run that, you run it on 2nd down, everyone knows he is going to throw on 3rd down.   You also don't run that when your down on the scoreboard, you run that when your up.  I can't tell you how much I hated that call.
  • The Big Ten officials are just terrible man,  no video review on catches and ticky tack PI calls.  For awhile it looked like they were never going to call a penalty against MSU.
  • The Michigan WR's and TE's struggled catching the ball all day
  • The offensive line didn't protect in the passing game or open holes in the running game
  • What the hell is with Michigan's punting?  That was a huge difference in field position
  • I'm struggling to understand Michigan's LB situation, I thought there was a ton of depth.
  • If you watch enough film on Don Brown's defense you know how to beat the blitzing LB each time.
  • It looked like Michigan ran the same 5 plays on offense all day
  • Penalties were keeping MSU offense on the field
  • Too many negative plays on offense, each one was drive killers

Where do I start with this melt down?  This team was not prepared to play today and looked like the team that faced App. State.   Michigan should win this game even if Sparty played prefect, which for the most part they did.   I was stunned Michigan could not get to Lombardi, he had everything he wanted when he wanted.   BTW:  I'm not sure Ronnie Bell caught that pass on the goal line, but Michigan speed up and ran a play.

This Michigan team is not good, Minnesota is awful, and the Wolverines lost to bad team that played well.   This is so 2020 where Nico and Ambry are preparing the draft.

What a disaster and a complete 180 from last weekend.   Enjoy Halloween and OSU running over Penn State tonight.

Jim Harbaugh eats boogers

Jimmy in his 6th season and gets "better talent". Tucker gets to MSU in February and has a bare cupboard and pulls this off. Jimmy that was pathetic.
Ugh!

I officially disavow Michigan football. I cannot accept this any longer. It's been to many years with to much talent. I surrender my Michigan fan card. I'm entering the fan transfer portal.

Season's over. Time to focus on who our new coach will be. Gattis? Matt Campbell? Lloyd Carr (ala Tony LaRussa)? Mike Hart (ala Juwan Howard)? Grabbing at straws here...we're doomed.

I watched the game at the neighbors on the raw feed (no play by play man, no color guy, no commercials, no position lines, etc). Kinda cool, at least I didn't hear what the announcers were saying and I'm sure it wasn't flattering. Milton didn't seem to have that control and slight swagger he had last weekend. No down field shots tells the defense lack of confidence.

Did the raw feed include the time remaining in the game? If not, Michigan's 4.5 minute TD drive in the 4th may have looked impressive. In stead it showed how difficult it is to throw deep on a cover 2 zone. Now, one might ask....if it's difficult to throw deep on a cover 2 zone....then why in the hell didn't Don Brown run one. Because he's an idiot. Just saying..in case you're new to Michigan football.

The raw feed does not show the time left in the game nor does it ever show the scoreboard. It's like sitting in the press box, however you can hear the stadium announcer outside the window. On a rare occasion I could hear Bradstater if he got excited, but not loud enough to hear what he weas saying. A lot of times I signed on to the ESPN app on my phone to see how much time was left in the quarter.

It's time! It's time to move on to another direction. In year 6 it's obvious that the JH era has hit it's ceiling. They'll beat the teams they should be most of the time. Lose to those teams some of the time and NEVER beat a team they have no business beating. Don Brown's defense is easily beat by anyone with a modicum of football IQ! Josh Gattis looks like a 2nd year OC. Never adjusted to what MSU was doing. MSU attacked the line of scrimmage and took away the RPO and he had no answer. After 6 years I'm seeing that JH is only as good as his assistants. With the right assistants (Standford or SF) he's a winner. Without, not so much! It's time for UoM to move on to their next coach. With the National Brand and deep pockets, no excuse for UoM to not have a better football program.

I have always been a fan of Jim Harbaugh. I still am.
But this was the worst coaching display in a long time.
Don Brown cannot adjust.
The offense couldn't either.

Michigan State, whose coach is a novice and had little time to prepare, was more prepared and adapted to situations much better than Michigan.

Harbaugh has tough decisions to make....but he has to make them. The team is very talented. Michigan should have destroyed this team. Instead, they allowed them to have a record setting game.

No excuses. (though undeniably the B1G refs do not like Michigan - that point is undisputed and Joel Klatt made that point repeatedly in the booth). Michigan still should have destroyed MSU.

Well we lost goose and cmfgoblue to the portal. Good luck guys wherever you land. I'm not jumping yet, I gotta stay and see where this rudderless ship docks. I've already written off pro sports, college and high school football is it for me. I guess I find as I get older wins are still fun but the losses are not as devastating as they used to be. If I said, "Those That Stay Will Be Champions", wouldn't change your mind would it?!? Good luck and God's speed!!!

I have 4 daughters... and my only boy... now 7.... came in and saw the score at 20-17 and he said “Daddy, your always upset when you watch these blue guys”.... I looked at him with his Army helmet on with his plastic pistol in his holster, and realized right then how much time I have already missed with him because I was reading articles or watching this same story unfold.... For me it’s simple.... get priorities in order.... and at my age and now home schooling all 5 of them it’s simply to much stress and negative energy for my clan to deal with.... Thanks Bob and all of you... ‘‘twas a great time....

Everyone likes to banter, to discuss ideas, and to push ideas and see reactions. You just say the same shit, that is neither creative nor thoughtful. You’re just a Dick.
Fire Bucknut Bitch.
