Michigan Friday: Jetting Out of Ann Arbor

When I was a kid, I always wondered why we had to go to Detroit Metro to catch a plane rather than the very convenient Ann Arbor Airport.  My dad then explained to me that Ann Arbor Airport was too small for jets to fly in and out of.  I thought surely, they could do it if they really wanted to.

On Thursday night, that happened and Jett Howard flew out of Ann Arbor after only 1 season.  I'm a bit torn on this decision.  On one hand, his family doesn't need the money, Juwan made over $150M in his NBA career.  He also is a little rough around the edges in shooting and defense but has the frame that NBA scouts love.  He could use another year in college to refine his skills and improve his defense but elected to go the NBA route.

Jett will probably get drafted in the middle of the 1st round and spend a year or 2 in the G-League.  Is the G-League better than Big Ten Basketball?  I think Jett just proved it is.

When you look at Michigan's Basketball issues, it's not the recruiting, it's the staying and developing.  Look at UCLA, that team was very similar to the one Michigan played a few years ago.  How many times did they have Gonzaga beat last night?  Michigan has lost 3 one and dones the last 2 years.  Unless you have 5 stars on the bench or another bunch coming in, you can't have that type of attrition and keep your team in the Top 25.

Now what?  It has to be the portal.  Michigan has struggled in this department the last couple of years, trying to sign guards who were not ready for this type of competiton.  Hopefully, the Santa rules will open up more opportunities and Michigan can grab a few impact players.

  • The NCAA has suspended the Ferris State head football coach for 1 playoff game after some of his players lit cigars after winning the National Championship.  Funny, I don't remember Nick Saban or Ed Orgeron having the same penalty.  Do better in everything NCAA.
  • David Long has signed with the Raiders.
  • Jadyn Davis 5-Star QB is announcing his decision a week from today. 👀
Go Owls! 🦉

Team played noticeably worse with Jett in the lineup. Less team play, less hustle, less points. Not missing him leave to be honest. If he cared he'd stay. He doesn't.

My peeps were correct in telling me Jayden Davis would commit within two weeks. That is the exact timeline now being published. Stick w the Bighouse blog for the inside scoop my friends. Where REAL Mighigan fans get Michigan news first!

It's not about 1 & dones, it's about finding a way to utilize that talent to the maximum potential. That is where Juwan has failed miserably. You guys need to be prepared. I've seen some draft analysis that has Kobe a higher rated talent than Jett. We could very well lose both to the NBA and to be honest if I was a NBA GM and those were my 2 choices, I'm taking Kobe Bufkin. Just a better all around prospect. There were a lot of things that bugged me about Jett, but probably the biggest was watching him pout and lag behind plays when he didn't get a call. He might have a higher ceiling than Kobe, but I think he also has a much lower floor! Bufkin struggled at times early in the season as he tended to play out of control and force the issue. Once he learned to let the game come to him, he was a much better player. Jett on the other hand, never learned that lesson, and continued to force things that weren't there. For what he contributed this year, he might of been better off going to the G league where it is all about individual stats and putting up highlight video!

Is the junior college linebacker really coming here or not. People are saying it's a social media joke.
