Michigan's Spring Game Random Thougths

I didn't see the game and instead of sneaking into Saline HS stadium I attended the Masters in 80 degree weather. So I'm pretty sure I picked the right event.

With that said, I've read a number of articles on the scrimmage and it sounds like there were some positives and some negatives but all in all the first teams looked solid. Here's my takes:
  • Steven Threet is by far the best out of the 3 QB's. He will no doubt be the signal caller against Utah. His unit scored 20 points.

  • Michigan ran a very vanilla 100 play scrimmage. Not sure if the team is ready to run everything and of course you don't want to tip off your opponents next year.

  • We are loaded with talented RB's. Kevin Grady is back, Brandon Minor is in great shape and ready for a big year, Avery Horn was tapped by some as the most explosive player on the field, and we haven't even mentioned the new freshman due this summer (McGuffie and crew) or the injured Carlos Brown.

  • The defense was much faster and look for them to blitz often.

  • Graham pancaked Grady on a blitz for the "hit of the day"

  • CB and son of former Wolverine, Troy Woolfolk looked good and had a pick 6.

  • Starting linebackers were Jonas Mouton, Austin Panter and Obi Ezeh.

  • Ortmann, McAvoy, Moosman, Zirbel Schilling were the starters on the Offensive Line.
  • Scout's No. 5 ranked quarterback Kevin Newsome of Virginia attended the Spring Practice. Kevin the weather is much better in the Summer and Fall. Come on over!

  • The WR's dropped some balls but Mathews is by far the best WR.
