The Michigan State Fan’s Yearly Dilemma

Today, I will take a look at what's it like to be a Michigan State Football Fan. This is purely football focused because we all know MSU has wonderful basketball and hockey programs.

The flowing depicts the ups and downs of an MSU fan in a typical football season:

↑ MSU starts the season strong and has 4 wins in a row with a big win over ND
↑ MSU new coach brings hope that this will be the year
↓ The Big Ten season starts and MSU loses some games they should have won
↑ If MSU wins out they will be headed to a bowl game
↓ Remaining schedule has teams like OSU, Michigan, and PSU on it
↓ The Spartans lose out and are home for the holidays
↓ Thoughts go through their head like, “If we had only hired that up start coach from Bowling Green (Urban Myer) instead of John L. Smith”
↑ There’s always next year!

This seems to be the same broken record every year. Of course there are some things that happen differently, like the State clock operator “forgetting” to stop the clock, but the above seems to happen most years.

Since I summarized why OSU is not getting respect nationally yesterday, I will do the same for the Spartans:

· MSU’s top rival is Michigan. Michigan’s is OSU, ND, then MSU

· Nick Sabin left East Lansing because he couldn’t recruit against Michigan, OSU, and PSU in the Midwest. He wanted to go where he was the top school in the state (aka LSU)

· John L. Smith was a terrible hire. They turned down Urban Myer; I wonder how he has done.

· Getting Mark Dantonio from Cincinnati was a good move, but they had another strong candidate in Brian Kelly that was a home state favorite

· MSU just hasn’t won enough games against Michigan

· The late year fade seems to be a habit

↑ Don’t worry Sparty you have another chance this weekend!
↓ Looks like Hart and Henne will play
