Wake up Maggie

I think I have something to say to you. It's late October and I think we should be playing football soon.

Sorry for the bad Rod Stewart impression but I am getting a little tired of the Michigan football team getting behind bad football teams and not playing in the first quarter. Saturday was another example of that very thing. Michigan found themselves down 10 - 0 to the 1 win Minnesota Golden Gophers and getting out played in every aspect of the game. That's right, #20 Michigan Wolverines were losing 10-0 before they woke up. Well, it's time to wake up and start playing football right from the kickoff because the schedule is tough from here on out. They hit the road for MSU and Wisconsin before finishing off the year with the annual showdown with Ohio State at home.

After Michigan's 10-0 wake up call. They dominated the Golden Gophers with a great running performance from Minor and Brown and long passing plays from Mallett and Mario. As my preview suggested, Minor (157 yards) and Brown (136) each got over a 100 yards in the game. Manningham again showed why he should be a super star and put up 162 yards of receiving.

Michigan finally let freshman Ryan Mallett win a game by letting him throw "safe" long balls. Mario continued to make great catches on great throws which got Michigan out of it's early fog (btw Ricky Foggy was no where to be found).

This was a game Michigan should have won big which they did 34-10. The problem in my mind was the 10-0 deficit. If they do that in the next three weeks, they are going to put themselves into a big hole. Look for Hart and Henne to be back next week, I don't have any inside information but they will be dressed for the Spartans. Count on it!

Cheers:
  • The Running Game - two backs over a 100 yards

  • The Long pass - great touch by Ryan Mallett and great catches by MM

  • The Defense - Gave up an early field goal and that was it!

  • The entire team for playing well with out their two stars on offense

  • KC continues his 8-8 kicking streak. Keep it going my man! Well done!

Jeers:

  • Ryan and his hands. Another lost fumble and this time it cost us a return for a touchdown.

  • A Slow Start. Why? No reason for it.

  • ESPN Classic was terrible - it was BTN quality

  • Next Weeks game ESPN, ABC, or BTN?

Coming Monday: Look for Buckeye John's update on the PSU game, where OSU played their most complete game of the year.
