Thursday Big Ten Preview

The top game of the week will be the showdown in Madison and as you regular readers of the bighouseblog.com know, that game will be previewed in tomorrows edition. With that said, here is the rest of the story..............

Illinois at #1 OSU: (ABC 3:30) This was a game that nobody but Ron Zook had circled in the Pre-Season but after Illinois beat Wisconsin and PSU in back to back weeks, this game became much more intriguing. Then the fighting illini lost a road game to Iowa and Michigan beat them at home on SNF, this game sort of lost it's luster again. So is it time to shine this baby back up or label it another Buckeye win and go on? No really, I'm asking you what to do? OK, I guess that's my job. Illinois is very young and athletic and could give OSU trouble if they fire on all cylinders and don't make any mistakes. Guess what, that won't happen and they will make mistakes against a good OSU defense. Close for awhile, but not for long. OSU 28 - Illinois 13

MSU at Purdue: (BTN - Noon) MSU's head coach is still steaming mad that he is Michigan's little brother. MSU players who have always been very respectful (see youtube for the ND flag planting) are not able to sleep after giving up a 10 pt 4th quarter lead to the Wolverines. This team is tired and sad and will not show up this week against Purdue. Purdue will spread them out and make them run all over the field (not good for sad and tired players) . Purdue might even return a kick or two for a touchdown. Purdue 38 - MSU 10

Minnesota at Iowa: (BTN - Noon) The gophers are terrible this year. Iowa likes to play at home. Iowa is hanging on for a bowl bid. This is an easy one. Iowa 31 - Minnesota 8

IU at Northwestern: (ESPN Classic - Noon) This is your classic, I want to go to Detroit for the Motor City Bowl game! Both teams dream of December practices and a bowl bid to any bowl. They don't care who sponsors the thing or what channel shows it (NFL Network? BTN?). IU is the better team in this one but expect it to be cold in Chicago. At least the IU staff and players can get some early Christmas shopping done on Michigan Ave. Lots of points in this one. IU 38 NW 34

Will the non-conference season ever end? #23 PSU plays Temple.

Look for the Michigan - Wisconsin game preview on Friday on these local stations.
