Breaking News: Kevin Grady in Trouble

(the title Kevin Grady is Done was a little misleading)

Coming out of high school Kevin Grady was a 5 Star recruit with can't miss skills.

Can't miss is right! opposing tacklers couldn't miss him. He couldn't find a hole if he had GPS and looked very slow to the corner. The power which he showed in high school was gone and he looked like the classic over rated/hyped recruit. Then he blows out his ACL in bowl practice in 2006 and misses the entire 2007 season.

Spring Ball 2008. Kevin shows up with a new attitude, a new coach, and healthy for the first time in a long time. Kevin was truly interested in being a large contributor to the Wolverine offense next year. Until now.

Does he look Drunk to you?

Kevin was sited for DUI in Wyoming Michigan last night and will be arranged on July 9th.

Memo to Kevin: With Michigan loaded at RB and a number of skilled Freshmen coming in, your days as a Michigan Wolverine maybe numbered. There is always Grand Valley.

Update: I'm sure Kevin will be serve a long suspension and not be thrown off the team. Either way, this will be the first public "player in trouble" event RR will have to deal with as the Michigan head coach. It will be very interesting to see how he handles Kevin's situation.

Dear Bob
Clearly you are one old fuck who has nothing better to do but blog. As for your days of playing college football....there were none! So why dont you do something productive instead of talking shit to a 22year old via the internet. Because we all know that if you saw him in the mall you would be the first fag to run over and ask for an autograph! So bob...here is a beer to you!

Uh, there is no way in hell he gets kicked off the team for something relatively tame like a DUI.

Also...Does anyone recall a Wolverine that wrapped a car around a tree last summer....he still playing....ballin!

Dear Anonymous #1: What part of the post do you take objection to? I'm sure you would agree, he hasn't lived up to his billing. Maybe you thought the DUI was something all 5 star recruits do? Or was it the part of him coming ready to play this spring? Thanks for the tip on the autograph, I do like to keep an old man scrapbook. BTW: class move to rip me and then go anonymous.

Tim, you are right, he probably doesn't get kicked off the team but I hope RR sends a message to the other players. I'm sure you would agree with Michigan loaded at RB this was not the best move for playing time next year.

Dear Boring Bob
The part of the post I take objection to is your little comments like "enjoy the rest of your career at Grand Valley". You my friend may be the biggest hater in cyber space. Im glad you find time in your day to bash kids who make mistakes....because apparently you my friend are perfect! As far as your jerk off scrap book....Im sure every single player that has signed it has laughed inside thinking what a creepy old man! So take that scrapbook and shove it in your judgmental, degrading ass!
Bye Bye bobby!
Oh and as far as class....you are one to point fingers.

Bob you blow. This is anonymous II. I truly would show my support for Kev & use my name. But, its freaks like you that I'd prefer to keep my name from; as you seem to have an abundant concern and involvement in the lives of people you don’t know.

As far as objections, mine is only that if this were your grandson or son, would you be the first to post the notification message about his mistake to the rest of the world?

Oh yeah, nice job trying to cover your nasty GVSU comments from before.

Classic & yet so pathetic.

Anonymous I and II - I clearly get your point that I was too hard on Kevin. You know what, you maybe right. Kids make mistakes and college kids drink too much.

My problem is with kids with the entire world in front of them throwing away chances. Yes, I had big problem with Mario Manningham smoking pot and not taking his Jr. year seriously, I have a problem with Kevin drinking and driving and 1 maybe hurting himself or others and 2 even giving the possibility for him not to play football again for Michigan. Is it worth the risk?

When your in a high profile program like Michigan, your a 5 star recruit, and you get arrested. It's news. It would be news even if it was my son. That's just the way it is.

Yeah, I'm not gonna pile on the hater's pile, but you really need to give a kid a break, even more so the fact that he was a 5 star. He had (still has) a lot of promise, no doubt high expectations of himself, grand visions of his future, and he's had some tough breaks, not all of them his fault, and he seems now to be fightin' the good fight. A setback. Minor or not, it remains to be seen.

All of you are missing the point. Does this kid (22 yr. old) need help? The above anonymous gentlemen seem to have interest in protecting Kevin. Maybe your time would be better spent reaching out and getting help for him instead of somehow making his destructive behavior okay. Son, Grandson whoever be thankful the breaking news wasn’t are boy's funeral arrangements. Kevin I hope has people around him that can support him and not make excuses for him. DUI is not about being kicked off the football team. We all make mistakes but DUI statistics do not care if it is a football player or a new mother and her baby...

Don't overlook the fact that Grand Valley wins just about every game they play, and have won the national championship in their division for however many years straight. Don't just throw a legit team in to sound more snarky and knowledgable, because it may backfire on you.
A year ago, you might've said "play at App State," but now we know a team who wins championships in their respective divisions has a chance at a big D1 program. Including GVSU.
How about we think about things from more perspectives before posting an opinion about it? Take this one for example: Don't raise up high school kids to be supermen and expect every one of them to turn out perfectly. They're still kids, and they can't all be perfect. Enormous pressure is placed on "5 star recruits" to live up to their expectations. Let's not make it harder on them.
