Michigan Tuesday: Spring Practice and Injury Updates with a Quick Recruiting Blitz

  • Devin Gardner has been seen walking around campus in a sling. It doesn't appear to serious since he is seen above throwing the football.

  • It seems Michigan DE Will Heininger has torn his ACL during Spring Practice. This is a tough loss for Michigan on defensive line depth. Will is a junior and had been making a statement for even more playing time.

  • Michigan starting LB Obi Ezeh was seen in Grand Rapids with his wrist in a soft cast as well.

  • Do you remember a Michigan LB recruit named Marcus Witherspoon? If you don't, Marcus was a highly rated 4 star LB out of NJ and signed a LOI to play at Michigan during RR's first class. Days before Fall practice, Marcus had not been cleared by the NCAA Clearing House academically. So instead of getting his grades in order for a semster or two, Marcus heads to Rutgers and sits out a year. Marcus has not seen the field during his time at Rutgers and now is leaving the team due to personsal issues.

  • 2011 Akron CB Doran Grant is planning a Michigan visit this week.

  • Michigan has offered Hyattsville, Maryland DeMatha Catholic defensive lineman Darian Cooper.

  • The top LB in the nation Trey DePriest from Springfield, OH is getting closer to making a decision. Per Sam Webb, He is planning to cut his list to 5 schools in May and maybe make a final decision before the start of his senior season. Trey who was interested in Michigan early on seems to be leaning towards OSU or Alabama at the moment. Michigan will need to do their best selling job on getting him on campus for the Spring Game and then get him to drink the Michigan "kool aide" while on campus.
