BHB: Votes for Mike Trgovac for Michigan's DC Role

I have no inside knowledge on who the next Michigan Defensive Coordinator might be.   I don't see Brady Hoke doing something like hiring a big name guy like former Miami head coach Randy Shannon (even though I wish he would consider it - Randy would bring instant respectability to the role and be a huge asset for recruiting Florida), I see him going with somebody he knows and a coach that is familiar with the University of Michigan.

I believe the best person to fill that role is Green Bay Packers Defensive Line coach, Mike Trgovac.   Mike has been a defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers for 5 years and has been a defensive line coach every other place he has been to.  He played for Bo at Michigan and ironically was also a DL coach for Ball State.   He even has a couple of years coaching at ND.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio which should bring some credibility on the recruiting trial in Ohio (even though he probably hasn't recruited in some time).

Having a former defensive line coach as your head coach and your DC might be a bit redundant but I still think it would be a smart hire and certainly would help Mike Martin get ready for the NFL draft next year.  D-Line is also a big area of need for recruiting and skill development for the current Wolverines.

From NFL.com:

if not Trgovac, then who? Give me something to work with it. I'm goin crazy trying to figure out the staff and if they are worthy enough.

I like dick bumpas at TCU. He has no to us, but he is awesome. I would love to see him with us.

We will have to go into the wallet to make it happen for bonified OC & DC.

Also, i believe the S&C will be fine.

Give me something i can sleep to.

how many years do you think it'll take before Aurburn's title is crossed out from the history books? lol

Nope that will not help. And for you ricky, it will be less than 2 years. That's why he's going pro.

Mike Trgovac is an excellent choice. Right now familiarity and UM ties will form a cohesive coaching staff.

The big question is will we get him? Is there someone that can run a complex defense like they do in the NFL now, to keep offenses off balance?

If there is someone good enough out there, then DB needs to pay them well instead of being cheap like Bill Martin was with RR staff.

I'm hoping the reason his hire is taking so long is becuase GB has a game this weekend.

Time to come home Mike!

The San Diego Union-Tribune has reported that recruiting coordinator Jeff Hecklinski, offensive line coach Darrell Funk and linebackers coach Mark Smith will also follow Hoke from the Aztecs to the Wolverines.

Whether these coaches will coach the same positions at Michigan I don't know.I do remember that Jeff Hecklinski has several positions he could coach, if needed.

If we get Vance Bedford we will need to pay him more than the $300,000 than Louisville is paying him now.

Bedford has an impressive resume', so we will need to get him. His position will be DC amd DB coach.

Smells like that old UM to me.
Our draft numbers for the NFL will start to go back up.
