Michigan Monday: Welcomes a New 2019 Commit

NSD 2019 is really a long time away.  With the small 2018 class the Wolverine coaches have been hitting the top 2019 guys really hard and landed one on Saturday.

Charles Thomas is a MLB from Georgia that will play his final two years at IMG.   He is 6'0 and 222 pounds as a high school sophomore in Georgia.   With two years at IMG, I wouldn't be surprised if he grew a couple inches and adds more muscle.    The only service to rate him at this point is 24/7 which has him as early 4 star.

Yes, he is two years away from being on campus, but its always great to get a guy excited about Michigan so early.   Having a Michigan commit this early on IMG shouldn't hurt recruiting at one of the nations top HS programs either!

Two thing about Charles:  1) It sounds like he committed in April and made it public this weekend during his second visit.   2) As soon as he got off the plane to come home, he went straight to the gym and put up 315 pounds on the bench.

  • The bad news this weekend was a report that surfaced that Michigan Basketball assistant Billy Donlon is heading to Northwestern to fill a similar roll.   Billy and NW head coach Chris Collins are boys and have known each other for years.   Billy was basically Michigan's defensive coordinator last year and you saw the improvement he been working on late in the year.   Losing Billy is a big loss and now Michigan has two openings after Jeff Meyer left for Butler earlier in the week.   Coach B is going to have some work to do getting two solid assistants in Ann Arbor.
