Michigan Friday: Wants Drake Harris to See The Field

Drake Harris came to Ann Arbor as an athlete that could make an instant impact.   Not too many kids can pick between playing Big Time D1 Basketball or Football.    This was the type of athlete Michigan needed and fans wanted.

The issue is, Drake has spent 3 injury plagued years in the program and with a boat load of talented WR's coming into the program, he has changed positions and will line up as a CB this year.   We know he is athletic enough to play the position, but does he have the experience?

Experience is the issue for the Michigan secondary this year.  The safeties seem to be locked down with Tyree Kinnel and Josh Metellus both have seen a little bit of game action.   The CB positions are up for grabs with the likes of Watson, Washington, Hill, Long, Harris and St-Juste.  Watson has experience but I'm concerned with this speed and coverage skills.  Washington looked good in the spring and Hill and Long are highly touted.  We know Ben St-Juste is a true freshman.

The opportunity for Harris is there, lets hope it all comes together for him.  Per Don Brown:

"I think every position there's battles going on, but I think the corner thing is paramount in our thinking," Brown said. "Coach Zordich -- I have tremendous confidence in his abilities to analyze, provide technique and concept. And I love those guys. All of those guys have a chance to be good.
"And coach gave me an early birthday present or something, but Drake Harris had a nice interception yesterday. I love those guys, when they put their hands out, and they're nice and long, and then he goes up and high-points the ball -- it's fun to see. Hopefully he'll continue to take steps, move forward, learn the concept and play fast -- because that's the biggest piece.
