Michigan Monday: Moving On To Another Van!

Michigan missed out on TE Tommy Tremble last week to ND and Ole Miss transfer Van Jefferson got caught up in Michigan's transcripts issues.   Which left them some available spots left in the 2018 class.

One of those spots got filled last night when instate TE/FB Ben VanSumeren flipped his commitment from Iowa to Michigan.   Ben is a freak athlete that tore up a Nike Combine this summer and started to turn heads.  He was committed to Western, then Iowa came knocking, then last week Jimmy and Greg Mattison took a visit to his school and got him to visit this weekend.

Ben is a 6'3, 230 pound athlete, he played QB and WR his senior year in Essexville, Michigan.  He is clearly a good student with offers from Harvard, the Air Force & Naval Academy, Yale, Iowa, Iowa State, Columbia, and more.  Iowa liked him at LB and Jimmy likes him at FB/Half Back.  This is clearly a Harbaugh type of player, smart and can play multiple positions.

Ben committed to the Wolverines yesterday and is expected to sign on Wednesday.

Here is his Hudl page if you want to review some video.

  • Speaking of fullbacks, former Wolverine FB Kingston Davis will transfer to Alabama-Birmingham to finish his education and college football career.

  • Michigan Basketball destroyed Detroit in Detroit in the new Little Caesars Arena on Saturday.

  • We are now two days away from the first early signing period, it will be interesting to see which commits sign and which will wait for February.
