The Wolverines To The Final 4!

In a year with FBI investigations and $100 grand payouts.  The cleanest coach in the business is taking his team to the Final 4 to play a small school in Chicago who is supported by a now famous 98 year old Nun.   You couldn't write this script if you tried.

Michigan shot the lights out in the Staples Center on Thursday, on Saturday they were having trouble throwing the ball into the ocean from the Santa Monica Pier.  Michigan won this game on defensive side of the floor against a very athletic team that seemed to have played 20 guys.   Michigan was missing 3's and getting their layups blocked.  Everything was a struggle on the offensive end, even the free throw shooting at the end to make the game closer then it should be.

When your shot is not going down, you have to make it up on the other end of the floor and that is what the Wolverines did.  The game was ugly and intense as neither team was scoring the ball with any regularity.   I was starting to lose my mind as Wagner kept shooting 3's after he hadn't made one all night.  Matthews kept Michigan in the game with his drives and Zavier Simpson has become a unbelievably good point guard.   Simpson at the start of the year looked like he was going to spend more time on the bench then the floor this year has become the heartbeat of this team.   His defense, ball handing, good decisions, lack of turnovers, and dribble drives are a thing of beauty.   He is the ideal point guard in anyone's offense.  Duncan Robinson who was struggling all night on both sides of the floor hit a huge 3 point shot with less then 3 minutes left and made two clutch free throws after MAAR and Simpson has missed a few with under a minute left.

At the end of the game, I felt more relief then joy as that game was a 12 round heavyweight fight.  It is so nice to have a Michigan team playing at a high level and Coach B will go down as the best basketball coach to ever walk the floor in Crisler.

Congratulations to the Wolverines and I can't wait until next Saturday!!

  • Congratulations to the Michigan Hockey team as well as they qualified for the Frozen 4 on Saturday.

  • Third congratulation goes to the Ferris State Bulldogs who won the Division 2 Basketball National Championship on Saturday.
