Michigan Friday: Purdue's Nojel Eastern Transfers to Michigan not Eastern Michigan

kokomotribune.com
I made a joke earlier this week that Nojel Eastern should transfer to EMU.   Instead, he picked another Washtenaw Country University and will play for Juwan Howard.

Eastern is known has a huge guard at 6'7 225 and a lockdown defender.  He was been on the Big Ten Defensive team for two years.  He also has a good handle and solid on dribble drives.    What he is lacking is a jump shot, he was 0/3 from the 3 point line last year.

What's in question is, if Eastern will be immediately eligible next season?  Most experts believe he will have to sit out a year if he doesn't get a waiver or some special COVID-19 transfer policy.

Does this transfer make sense for Michigan's basketball program? Hell yes, because he is a lockdown defender and the other option was nothing.  Sure it will be better if Eastern can play next year but either way, Michigan needs some upper classman leadership and hopefully he will be able to fill that role.

If he wants to fill a Dennis Rodman role (from his time with the Pistons ) I'm all for it.   Welcome Nojel!

  • Josh Gattis says there isn't a leader right now for starter at QB.  That is coach speak and wanting both guys to work hard prior to camp (whenever that happens).    I have no doubt they know who all the expected starters are.   The 2019 class will really need to step up at WR as the roster lost 2 upper classmen to the NFL and Texas.

Are we closer to a National Championship in basketball of football? I cannot decide so I’m asking all of you!

Oh boy. Here we go. I like the question but get ready for the usual rhetoric.

Well that's obvious.....baseball

Haha! Goose... Good point..... I’m at about 60-40 basketball..... When Howard led the boys to a win over MSU it opened my eyes... the first time Jim coached the football team against MSU at home did as well... .... yikes.... .....

Seriously, I believe the playoff system lends itself to having 5 or 6 "Elite" teams that most of the "Elite" talent gravitate too. Unfortunately Michigan is not one of those schools & worse yet our rival is one of those schools. Because of those reasons I believe basketball is a better bet for a championship.

Goose, my blood...according some of these guys here won the national championships for past 5 years in football...why is Don Brown still our DC...someone please, give me good reasons why is he still on our coaching staff and not in a community college....Please....

I believe Don Brown is still at Michigan just to annoy you.

There's that inane rhetoric I expected. You can always count on bucknutsboy to come through with a nonsensical post.

Michigan Man! We need more material from you sir.... Don Brown is there because Jim is a moron that knows nothing about Defense... Here is an answer as to why he is still there... Because Michigan and Jim like his image, his old school mustache and hard work look, is the look of integrity that the program needs to sell tickets and to get enough decent recruits to take visits, Don Brown fits the bill... 9-3 and beat MSU

Sad..why some of you guys are so in love with JIM and DON...why?...Why can someone of guys with so called high "IQ" see that JIM and DON are not doing their job accordingly...stealing money from the University is a SIN....stealing is sin in general but, these guys know they are stealing and not stopping....just step away and say "I Can't Do IT"...

Cmfgoblue said...

Not one person has said they loved Don on here , you smoke better weed than me Bro!

Every man makes his own deal. You can be pissed if you want but don't be pissed at the guy(s) because that made a great deal for themselves. You'd do the same if you had talent of any sorts.

I love Don Brown because I remember Greg Robinson and will forever pray those defenses never return to Ann Arbor.

GOblu look into TEN or AXL if you have two hundred bucks in your bank account....

Greg Robinson was a good DC..if you know anything about something, Greg was told by Rich Rod what kind of defense he should run, instead of his own....who cares none of the defense hasn't beaten OSU..

Based on your age Go blu... you will go blind before me.... I don’t do the stock market and I give much different answers than sir Michigan Man... spank that type writer a few more times old man, lord knows your wife don’t let you anymore...

Robinson should have used those DC skills when he was at Syracuse as a head coach or maybe he wouldn't have went 5-37. Many of the defensive players under him said his defenses were so convoluted they weren't sure what to do. Good DC, that's funny.

Cmfgoblue said...

I would have to second that as being funny.... Robinson was unspeakably terrible.... I remember him jumping up and down when the defense made a play against UConn at home and thinking he was way out of his element, those days were dreadful because we knew that loyalty was the only thing keeping us watching at the time, today... we are much better, but on the national stage we are still just a top 25 program
