Michigan Tuesday: Walter Camp Pre-Season All American List

Walter Camp released its Pre-Season All American list on Monday.  Three Wolverines made the list and you already know the names: Will Johnson, Colston Loveland, and Mason Graham.  The interesting part of the list is Johnson and Loveland were first team and Graham was second.   Maybe the team was camping when they made that decision and ate one of those funny looking mushrooms.

  • TNT will be covering Mountain West Football moving forward.
  • If your a fan of any of these teams: Baylor, Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, Nevada, Rutgers, Tulane & Virginia and like to shop at Costco, your in luck! Tickets now on sale!
  • I think the Wink to Don Brown comparison is in Wink's head:  "There's a narrative now that some people are afraid it's going back to the old school Don Brown system. That's not the case whatsoever. To me, that's profiling. Just 'cause I'm old and Don Brown's old, you can't put us together." What is the comparison? That they both blitz a lot? My concern about Wink is not his defense or play calling, its that he flamed out in his last couple NFL gigs and didn't seem to get along with the head coach. One with the name Harbaugh. If going back to college has given him a fresh start and a new outlook, then its a win for all of u.
  • DL Maxwell Roy who was high on Michigan committed to Ohio State.
  • CB Shamari Earls who is currently committed to South Carolina has a hard decision to make between Georgia, Michigan, or staying with USC.

Don Brown was a one trick pony- he blitzed a lot. He didn't change it up when teams were burning his man to man defense to the ground, and he couldn't disguise his defenses. I don't see any comparison to Wink at all. Brown was a small time coach getting his big shot at Michigan, while Wink has already been to the mountain top in the NFL.

Brady, where the comparison start is they both are curmudgeons. When Brown was questioned about maybe mixing in zone, he bristled at the idea. When Martindale was with the Giants, and his entire secondary died(IR) when approached about dialing down the amount of blitzing as most of the secondary was working at an Amazon distribution center a few weeks prior, he to bristled. They both have the reputation of being smartest guys in the room. Look there's no issue with being confident, but when you refuse to listen to input from others, that's a problem too. We all have something to learn!
