Wolverine Wednesday: The Toughest of Spots

Sherrone is in a difficult spot.  He has no QB and a banged up defense.  His OC and DC are a mess and they are playing in a rivalry game this weekend.  He looks at Oregon and OSU still remaining on the schedule and that is enough to make any person sick to their stomach.

There are plenty of people to blame.  You can blame Harbaugh for leaving and taking his entire coaching staff.  You can blame Warde because he struggles as an athletic director.  You can can blame Kirk Campbell for running an offense that has no direction.  You can blame Wink for being terrible in every job he has ever had.  You can blame Sherrone for not preparing for something everyone saw coming.

The answer is Yes.  Blame them all.

Sherrone is feeling heat and guess what the temperature will be if they lose on Saturday night?  This is bad and it's getting worse.  Did I mentioned Will is hurt and probably won't play Saturday.

Who do you start at QB on Saturday?  The answer is Jadyn Davis.  The season is over and Michigan will be lucky to be 6-6.  Play the kid and see what he has, build for next year.

I do like what Sherrone is doing in the recruiting world.  He pulled in a 5 star OT and is trying to flip Bryce Underwood with the Barstool $$$ (I assume).  I'm sure the pitch is, you can get LSU money here and your family doesn't have to travel to see you play.

  • Michigan Basketball is trending for 2025 recruit Oscar Goodman a PF from New Zealand. Breaking News: He committed!!!

I keep getting told NO WAY will Sherrone Moore get fired. Cool. What's the plan to move forward? New coordinators? Ok, pretty hard to recruit elite coordinators when they are unsure of the HCs job security. Moore getting a year 3 if next year is as bad or worse? You going to lose 4 of your best defenders and 3 of your better offensive players to the draft. How many guys are going to hit the portal? Anyone else have doubts Moore can hit the portal and fill any of the holes, let alone all of them?

Also I see people saying the D has been good. Has it? Has it been good, or does it just look good because the offense is SO BAD! What great offense have we played outside of Texas? Texas had their way with Michigan's D, so much so, that Sark called off the dogs in the 2nd half. Litmus test is Saturday night: if Chiles lights them up, then how good is the D?

To everyone with a 9 to 5 job, start sucking at it and see how long you last before you get the ax. I guarantee you it won't be 3 years.

Sherrone already has NFL talent on this team and he has no clue how to use it.

Oponnents are getting the ball at midfield and the UM defense is worn out by halftime. The time of possession is ridiculous.

I coached 12 years as an assistant coach in H.S. and never wanted to be a Head Coach. You are responsible for EVERYTHING. You need expert level knowledge for every position, along with scouting and game planning. You have to be in the head of every single player and Coach. If they aren't performing, it's your ass on the line. You have to think football 24/7, not to mention deal with parents and administration. The job basically turns you into a control freak. A lot of people have no idea what is needed to succeed as a Head Coach. Sherrone seems like one of them.

Brady the D hasn't been great. Run D has been good, passing D has been ass. And that's with Michigan rank 30th in sacks. So when we don't get to the QB the D hasn't been good! Here's the rub, if Michigan was to fire Moore, it's not very probably that the new coach keeps Wink Martindale. It's just not how it works. Gus like to ride and die with their own guys and not some holdover. Unless you're Dick LeBeau, very rarely do you survive a regime change.

If Michigan is down in the 2nd half of MSU game...my insider is telling me that J. Davis will enter the game in the 2nd half......

I know with Gattis there was talk the year he won the Broyles award, he was merely running Harbaugh's offense, or Harbaugh had a lot of influence on play calling, etc. Was Sherrone calling plays these past couple years? If so, I was a little surprised he gave up calling plays this year. Not saying that fixes anything, just an observation.

I agree, put the kid in, see what happens. Or.....let it burn? Does that give you a better chance at Underwood? If the Davis does amazing, does that lose Underwood for sure b/c why compete with Davis?
