Auburn is a good basketball team and they showed it against both state schools this weekend. Michigan who had a fantastic year got hit late on Friday night and Sparty was taken out on Sunday afternoon. Johni Broome was too much for either school to handle and he and his teammates are off to San Antonio and the Final 4.
Dusty gets an A+ this year. It blows my mind how Izzo gets the "Coach of the Year" in the Big Ten and that Dusty is not being consider the coach of the year nationally. Not sure what the media is watching. Izzo does this every year and Dusty took the worst team in the Big Ten without a roster and turned it into a Big Ten Championship Tournament team. Give the man his flowers!
Media gets an F for that effort.
- Did the UFL sneak up on anyone else?
- DeVeon Smith had 3 carries for 3 yards and 3 TD's.
- JBB is still in the league
- NFL is considering 18 games
- The NCAA Tournament has all #1 seeds for the 2nd time in its history. The last time it happen was 2008.
- Maryland's head coach did move to Villanova over the weekend.
- Bryce updated his roster photo, the saga is now over!
- Reports are Keene is injured and not practicing right now. There is some smoke that might mean he is looking to jump into the portal again. I hope that is not the case, I love Underwood's upside, but Michigan needs an experience play caller to start the year.

The NFL was never staying at 17 games. They were always going to expand to an even number. Wouldn't be shocked if they eventually end up at 20 game season.....Greed is Good! NOT!
Did I miss something with Bryce's roster photo?
Speaking of Bryce, unless he's just horrendous he's the starter at the start of the season. They didn't get that HUGE check cut for him to ride the pine. I know its going to blow the "old heads" minds but that's just college football in 2025. You're not redshirting a kid like that and you're not going to sit a few games and let him get his feet wet slowly. He's going straight into the fire. Will he lose us a game or 2? Possibly, but would you rather Mikey Keene hit the portal or Bryce Underwood?
Chowman .... as usual is "dead on target" .... you don't learn to drive a car sitting in the back seat, right?
I am surprised we are not discussing the horrendous number of college basketball players hitting the portal (over 1200) too lazy to look again. It's magnified as to football because there are only 15 players per team (vs 85 for football). The entire Indiana team is graduating or hitting the portal. All this craziness is out of hand. I am glad Michigan embraced the new realities in sports, but it also pushes me farther away. Could College football and basketball end up like the Miss America contest ...; in the 50's and early 60's, the beauty contest had viewership ratings like the super bowl, now it's barely watched by anybody. So year by year, in a few decades could fans start chanting like Tommy {who album} "were not going to take it" ....
Keene gettin PAID right now. Ain't goin nowhere
Scotty, don't get me wrong, there are some positions that require a lot of physical development, aka OL. And some kids come out of HS just not physically ready. By all reports, Bryce isn't one of those kids. The shine some people put on Mikey Keene. He was the 92nd rated QB in 2024. I don't care if he was one of the more highly rated QBs in the portal. Maybe the QB class in this year's portal is garbage. Sorry, never realized the Mountain West was such a power conference.
I once had an exchange with one of the contributors on another blog site. Reportedly he's a HS football coach. He told me he would always start a walk on senior over a uber talented freshman. When I asked why? His response was, less coaching. Starting a freshman takes a lot more coaching. Told him, that was a lazy way of looking at things.
That's kinda why I have lost my passion for college hoops. I used to be a college basketball junkie. Watching whatever game was on TV. I joke that college football is NFL lite. College basketball has become NBA lite and the NBA has become unwatchable. Once Michigan is done, I'm done! I won't watch 1 minute of the final 4!
It wouldn't shock me if he's checking his options. I think the main reason Michigan struggled to find a QB in the portal was because of Bryce Underwood. Writing was on the wall, if the kid could play at all, he was the day 1 starter. Most guys aren't coming here to sit unless they suck and just want a payday.
