The "Game" back to Noon!

The Big Ten and ABC finally did something right this year. They put the "GAME" back to 12:00 on November 17. As many of you might remember, last year's shoot out in Columbus had a 3:30 start time. Noon is where this game belongs! There were reports earlier in the year that this game might show up on the Big Ten Network to prove a point to the cable companies not carrying the BTN. Thank goodness that didn't happen!

Does it take $$$$ to make 'Ws'? That is the question when Ohio State travels to Ann Arbor in November on the road to win the national championship.

The Wall Street Journal reports that at $109,382,222.00 for the current year, Ohio State's athletic budget is the largest in the nation and the biggest in the history of college sports.

OSU spends about $110,000 on each of its 980 athletes, which is triple the amount the university spends per undergraduate on education.

A just completed $19.5 million renovation of the football team's practice facility was funded with a large donation from Limited Brands CEO Leslie Wexner.

OSU was one of just 19 schools to turn a profit on athletics in 2006, according to data collected by the NCAA.

The football and men's basketball programs at Ohio State are the only sports there that turn a profit. Last season, OSU's football program generated about $57 million in revenue and, on the expense side, spent 225 hours of private jet time allotted to football coach Jim Tressel for recruiting trips.

The University of Florida, which beat OSU for the national championship in January, made about $34 million on football last year.

Go Gators, OSU Blogger John!!!!
