I hear the words of a very passionate man that believes with all his heart that what he is doing is right...and that can't ever be wrong.
So I say to the naysayers....grow up.
Because you certainly don't understand the inner workings of a human being, thats why this country is in the shape it's in today.....GO BLUE !!!!!
If the truth be known, over time a team is a reflection of their coach. If the coach is a hard nosed cuss, then so is the team and they will play like it. Coach Rod is a good, caring and honorable man. Those students that left here outside of Boren should also tell you the same thing. Maybe that's the problem.
Maybe coach Rod needs to cuss some folk out, and scare some folk and give others something to cry about then maybe he'd get more respect and his players would play with a chip on their shoulders.
This season the team played tentatively at times with a lack of confidence. Some of this I'm sure is a result of youth and lack of experience,e.g. Denard's first year starting and so many freshman in the secondary. However, I'm also sure that they have felt some uncertainty from their coach and this can't be helpful at all.
There were rumors that coach Bo would cuss out his players, and that he literally kicked one player in the butt. He chewed out players and possibly staff when things weren't right. Players were afraid to screw up. The only two times I've ever seen Bo fight back the tears was when he said that he was not going to take a coaching position down in Texas, and when he had to announce his giving up his team.
Sometimes I guess you can be too nice. It sure doesn't pay to be nice here at Michigan.
As far as the situations with decommits, we can't worry about them. We play with who we have and thats the bottom line.
My sons high school in KY, Paducah Tilghman, last year had 10 players or more quit including 6 starting players. All because they didn't like what the coach was doing and started losing early. Fans and parents complained. They wanted the coach fired for cursing at the players.
Long story short, CLASS 3A STATE CHAMPIONS, that same year.
PLAY AND WIN WITH WHO U HAVE AND STOP WORRYING ABOUT THE ONES WHO WALKED AWAY
