Michigan Tuesday: Will Injuries Play a Role This Weekend for Northwestern and U of M?

Northwestern has an all Big Ten QB in Dan Persa.  Yes, Denard won the offensive MVP award last year but did not make the first team all Big Ten QB.   Dan beat out other high profile guys like Pryor and Cousins as well.   So he is pretty good, right?

He is and he made his comeback last weekend from an Achilles injury that he suffered last year during the Iowa game.  Persa played most of the game last week until he starting feeling pain in his foot in the 4th quarter, which lead to questions regarding is availability for this weekend match up against the #12 Wolverines.

Pat Fitzgerald cleared that up on Monday:  "Dan worked out today and was great," Fitzgerald said during his news conference on Monday. "We expect him to be great on Saturday."

The news isn't go good for the Wildcats second leading rusher Mike Trumpy on Monday as he was ruled out for the year after tearing his ACL on Saturday against Illinois.

Michigan is fairly healthy coming into it's first road game of the year.  The only significant injury seems to be to 2010 start Cam Gordon who hasn't played this year and starting offensive lineman Ricky Barnum who is questionable for the game this Saturday.   Starting CB Troy Woolfolk has been banged up all year and has yet to play a full game.

  • The positive news regarding 5 star center Mitch McGary coming to Michigan continues.  I still don't want to jinx anything here.

  • I keep hearing mixed things on Dan O'Brien's college of choice.  Dan plans on announcing this Friday and most insiders expect him to go to Tennessee.   There is more UT buzz then Michigan at this point.
