Michigan Friday: Likes Gift Cards

Ever wonder how it seems every college football players can afford Beats headphones?  This is how:

Each bowl is allowed to give up to $550 worth of gifts to players competing in their games, per NCAA rules. At last year's Sugar Bowl, the Wolverines shopped in a suite stocked with gifts, and they could choose what toys they wanted up to the limit.

This year, they'll receive the following, according to SportsBusiness Journal: $150 Best Buy gift card, Fossil watch, ring, cap and an Outback Steakhouse gift card.

I have to imagine the food at the Outback Bowl is better then some of the other bowls.

  • Former Ferris State and Central Michigan coach Butch Jones took the Tennessee job this morning.   Butch is from RR's coaching tree.

  • Taylor Lewan is a first team Walter Camp All American

  • Treadwell has Ole Miss leading now but is still planning a visit to Ann Arbor but it won't be for the 14th because he will be visiting Oklahoma.

  • Arkansas visits Crisler on Saturday - the game is on CBS at noon

  • The Michigan coaches have offered more committed guys in Illinois commit and Trotwood-Madison CB Reon Dawson who is thinking about a visit to A2.   The coaches also offered MSU commit OL Dennis Finley who seems to be confused on which Michigan University players from Cass Tech are supposed to go to.  Dennis is expected to stay with his MSU commitment and this is most likely an offer to keep all the coaches at Cass Tech happy.
