Michigan Tuesday: Recruiting Updates

  • Another surprise visitor to Ann Arbor this weekend was OL Dan Samuelson who is currently a Nebraska commit.   Dan is 6'5 275 pounds and has been committed to Nebraska since September.   Nebraska reportedly has a similar "no visit" policy for committed recruits, so it's hard to know where Dan stands with Nebraska right now.   He was planning on calling Nebraska last night to try to figure it out.   Dan is rated 3 stars to Rivals.

  • Michigan was always planning on taking 5 offensive lineman in the 2013 class but now it seems they want to take one more or a total of 6.   I doubt this has anything to do with Lewan going to the NFL, since that shouldn't come as a surprise to the Wolverine coaches and he would be a senior next year anyway.

  • Whoever commits first between Hunt, Skipper and Samuelson will get the final OL spot.

  • Michigan is looking at Marcus Ball at LB not DB like I said yesterday.  My bad.

  • Sam Webb does his Detroit News recruiting article this week on Leon McQuay.  Leon seems to be down to Vandy, Michigan, USC and maybe South Florida.   He visited USC last weekend for his final visit and will announce his decision during the UA game on 1/4.    His private decision will have to come before that so he can register for classes.    He has visited Vandy 6 times and the head coach just got an extension.   They are the team to beat.   If Leon visits practice while the Wolverines are in Tampa, that should be pretty telling.

  • Denard got a traffic ticket for driving on a suspended license.   He pleaded not guilty but missed his court date.   He paid his fine and everything should be fine now.
