Michigan Thursday: 2 More WR's In The 2014 Class?

With a number of spots filled in the 2014 class the Michigan coaches really don't have the luxury this year to offer some "under the radar" prospects that they could develop.   Still the Wolverines offered two players (and high school teammates) from Michigan's Summer Camp this week in 2014 WR Freddy Canteen and 2014 DB Brandon Watson.  It makes sense for the DB offer but a WR?  Many had thought Michigan would add one more WR and that is penciled in for Artavis Scott.

Then Freddy told this to his local NJ paper:  "Rutgers is still high with me," said Canteen, who was told the Wolverines would be taking two additional receivers in the class of 2014. "I don't know why people don't think that. You could still say Rutgers is my favorite school. There are a lot of mixed emotions when I really think about everything, but the top three are Rutgers, Michigan and Tennessee.

This class maybe near or at 20 players by the time it's done.  There are also some rumors floating around about a current LB that could be done playing due to an injury.

  • Walk-On Alert! 2013 QB Garrett Moores (Catholic Central) will be joining the Wolverines as a preferred walk-on this Fall.  Garrett was high school teammates with Wyatt Shallman and WR Jack Wrangler last year.

  • A potential 2014 offer is Safety prospect Drue Tranquill who preformed well at the SMSB Camp last week and also did well at Michigan's camp yesterday.   The buzz is that the Michigan coaches like him at LB.  We also know they are looking for one more LB as well.  No offer yet, but it could be in the works.  Having a hybrid guy that could play Safety or LB is a nice option for the coaches.  Side Note:  Drue was offered by Purdue on Wednesday.

It seemed like 14 or 16 was a low number for the final class for 2014.
If we started recruiting with 14 scholarships available, there were a few that left the program... I kinda thought it would end up closer to 20 players than it would 15. GO BLUE!!
