Wow, what a couple of days of recruiting success for the 2015 class. The #1 WR in country and probably a top 3 RB! That is a good couple of days. Let's not forget we are 17 months away from signing day for the 2015 class.
The rumor mill is spinning that this weeks commitments are not done either. Nobody is tipping their hat on who it might be, but I will give you a couple of educated guesses:
- 2015 DB Shaun Crawford has been on commit watch for quite awhile. With two high profile guys just dropping for the Wolverines, he might feel the love and want to keep the momentum going.
- 2015 RB Mike Webber from Cass Tech didn't make it to the BBQ because he didn't have a ride. He wakes up today with another RB already committed to the Wolverines for the 2015 class. With a class size estimated at 13 right now, would the coaches take 2 RB's? He might feel the pressure to jump on board quickly.
- 2015 DB Tyree Kinnel from Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne just got offered yesterday. He has offers from Arkansas, Kentucky and Michigan. He seems very high on the Wolverines and could pull a commitment trigger right away.
Could it be a 2014 recruit?
I doubt it, McDowell wants to take some officials out of state and planning an All Star game announcement. We know Hand is taking his time as the #1 recruit in the nation. JuJu Smith hasn't even been on campus yet, so it's for sure not him. The other top recruits aren't close to a decision either.
The wildcards are the Glenville duo in Marshon Lattimore and Erick Smith. It sounds like the Michigan coaches spent a lot of time with both of these guys at the BBQ. We know Ted Ginn, Sr. is a big Brady Hoke fan and maybe these guys are really thinking about playing ball in Ann Arbor. Smith is targeted as a Safety and Lattimore is an athlete that could play DB or WR. Most recruiting insiders believe they are headed to OSU, but you never know. OSU has had some success the last couple of days as well and have landed two 4 star players in OL Knox and DB Hooker.
Is Space in the 2015 class a factor?
I believe it is and one of the factors that Harris jumped on his offer. If there really is only 13 spots right now (probably more as we get some attrition the next year or so), some recruits might really want to commit sooner rather that later.
Bottom line is the combo of Hoke and Mattison are one of the best recruiting tandems in the country - without a doubt!
