Wolverine Wednesday: "Breaking News" Michigan Fall Practice Mash Report

WR Amara Darboh:  Got injured in the scrimmage.  Report out this morning is that he will miss the entire 2013 season with a foot injury that needs surgery.  Huge hit to the WR depth chart and most impactful injury of fall camp.  Hello Jehu!

QB Shane Morris:  Has a finger injury and was kept out of the scrimmage has a precaution.

OL Chris Bryant: Has had a knee issue but is back at practice.

DT Jibreel Black: Has an undisclosed injury and has not practiced this week.

RB Wyatt Shallman:  Also has an undisclosed injury and hasn't practiced this week.

Darboh's injury now makes the WR spot even tougher for the Wolverines.  Chesson will now have a huge role in the Michigan offense.   Amara will be getting a redshirt this year and Jehu is coming off his redshirt year.   Amara seemed to be headed to starter minutes which now Jehu will have to fill and hopefully we can get Shane some snaps in the CMU game if the score gets out of hand.

Having Black for ND will be very key.

RB Starter News

"If we're going to get technical about it," Hoke said. "Fitz would be the starter."

Fitz is the starter.  Not a big surprise but his back-ups are the ones making news.   Since camp started many of us expected Green to be right behind Fitz.

In fact, Hoke said his hierarchy right now would probably feature Toussaint, redshirt freshman Drake Johnson and juniors Thomas Rawls and Justice Hayes -- with Green and fellow freshman De'Veon Smith falling somewhere behind the pack.

Drake has had some nice buzz since Spring Ball and we saw a bunch of Hayes highlights in the scrimmage video.    My guess is Drake might be #2 right now and Hayes is the 3rd down back but that Green and Smith are pushing Rawls for that next spot.   Maybe weight and getting banged up in practice has hurt Derrick's chances of playing in 10 days.

  • 5 star RB Elijah Hood de-commits from ND.  Michigan was recruiting him hard for awhile but I expect he won't be headed to Ann Arbor.   Most believe he will stay home and go to North Carolina.
