Wolverine Wednesday: Coach Speak and Bye Week Schedule

Coach Hoke spoke yesterday and gave us a little insight into the process for the bye week and made it clear the team is not panicking after two poor performances in a row.

Weeks schedule:  Practice Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Morning and weekend off for rest.

Jake Ryan:  Still expected in October, probably not against Minnesota.  Sounds like they are doing the right thing by not rushing him back.

Changes on the Oline:  Maybe moving Graham Glasgow to center, but there has to be a good guard to replace him.  Right now it looks like Jack Miller's job is in jeopardy, only if Chris Bryant is healthy which he hasn't been while he has been in Ann Arbor.

Working on fundamentals this week

I would also assume they are working with Devin and his 10 turnovers through 4 games.   That and the offensive line are the teams #1 and #2 issues right now.

“I’m not going to apologize for being 4-0,” senior left tackle Taylor Lewan said Tuesday.

Said defensive lineman Jibreel Black: “Every win’s not going to be pretty. Every win’s not going to be clean. You’ve got to roll with the punches. The thing is to win.”

It's clear the players understand where they are at as a program right now and that they need to play much better and protect the football.   I hope Devin shows some leadership this weekend and works with the WR's in their down time.  They also seem a bit burned out and can get some rest as well.

  • Penn State is gradually going to get some scholarships back.  I think that is the right thing to do, as you can see from the USC example.  Losing scholarships is a big deal and can effect the competitiveness of your program.
