Tilt

This might be a dated reference but here it goes.  Back in the day, when pinball was popular, you could find a machine in restaurants, hotels, all over the place.   You could be playing and then all of the sudden the game would stop and pretty much halt your game.   It's called a tilt, similar to the blue screen of death that happens to your PC sometimes.

Michigan's season went "tilt" on Saturday.   There were a couple of plays that really turned the game/season.    The punt return was just a stupid play that happens sometimes in football.   The fumble by Peters on the goal line was a loss of 3 points.   Those aren't the plays, I'm talking about.

It was the long pass Wisconsin completed in the 3rd quarter over the shoulder of true freshman Jalen Kelly-Powell and 3rd down hit on Peters that sent him to the hospital.   Tilt - game over.

I've seen the offense under O'Korn, even his sure handed TE's won't catch the ball for him.  Tilt.

Season now is in full Tilt mode.

Cheers
  • Nordin made a field goal
  • Michigan's passing game looked decent under Peters
  • Play calling was decent on 1st and 3rd downs
Jeers
  • To many 2nd down poor play calls
  • To many injuries, Isaac looks done for the year
  • Not enough offense
  • A handful of mistake by the defense

I love Don Brown but him blitzing McCray too much opens way too many running lanes that shouldn't be there.

When were behind, 4 yard passes are not going to get it done.  Hats off to Wisconsin whose deep ball were the difference in the game.

I don't even want to think about next weekend.   Can it be possible for Michigan to have a healthy QB in that game ever?  Nope.

I was astonished at how the team reacted to Peter's injury. The whole team just shut down. It's very clear the players do not like O'Korn at all. They do not have his back.

That Michigan touch down was a thing of beauty for Peters... Bob I agree 100% > second down calls "bit the big one"...
reminds of old Bo ways... why wait for 3rd down to pass.. they know what's coming...

The injury was a set-up of sorts, the 2nd down run play against a tough defense forced a 3rd down throw... I believe it was 3rd And 5(?)... the play developed too... slow went for too many yards, and hence injury. Why not a quick 6 yard pop to a tight end or something or running back3? The announcer said the Wisconsin player did not have to murder Peters like he did, and that something should be done about that kind of situation... similar to Speight injury... quarterback is a target of sorts.

It really sucks when u look at the schedule at the beginning of the season...see 3 losses..but then 4 happen..I still would consider this season a success if Peters is our QB of the future...Brandon looked so cool and confident..my opinion we win the game with him finishing the game..I just can’t belief that we can’t impse our will at RB..do we need more OL recruits..it can’t hurt..but in closing where are our monster RB we used to have for last...forever..

When you think about it, Michigan wasn't suppose to win this game; you had a redshirt "freshman" only starting his "third" game, and that game was against the statistically number one defense in the conference and the nation...and it was on the road at a very hostile stadium. Then he was the third string QB, and he was knocked out of the game. Most teams don't expect to win with their second string QB let alone the third string.

Our OL because of their youth and limited experience couldn't protect any of the QB's. Yes, there is progress but in the mean time in between time opposing defenses are playing target practice with our QB's.

Nevertheless, even with all of that and the struggles that Michigan had, this was a game (like the MSU game) that could have been won by Michigan. It was youth that let the victory slip away.

However, again when you think about it, with such a young limited/inexperienced team coming in this year, we should have reasonably expected Michigan to take our lumps as we're doing now. The coaching isn't terrible, this is a result of the learning curve this season. But, next year we will be more experienced and I would wager that Michigan wins these same types of games. IMHO!!!

The safety play also leave a lot to be desired. Their coverage skills are lacking and more times than not when we are gashed by a big run play its due to the safeties being out of position!

Need to win the bowl game, losing the last 3 and ending up 8-5 would be a bummer. Recall last year they lost 3 of the last 4 games.

A veteran team does not shut down...a young team does...oline has improved a great deal...just keep in mind mot only does the QB have limited knowledge of the play book but so does the whole line...they started 8 underclassmen including a RS freshman QB and people expect them to know the whole play book...coaches are limited by their players grasp of the playbook!!!
