Michigan Friday: 24/7 Releases Updated Rankings and A Couple Wolverines Get A Huge Bump

The saying "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is never more accurate when it comes to college football recruit rankings.   Recruiting services have to rank over a thousand players each year and many times its off highlight tapes, etc.  It's pretty easy to see how a Mike Hart could be a 3 star player.  Ranking these kids has to be a very difficult task, outside say the top 100 kids.

So recruiting services take as much information they can to rank kids.   Summer Camps and events like the Opening are big deals for kids getting seen by a ton of services.   That is why we will see new lists come out, between now and the start of the season.

For those that don't visit 24/7 too often, they have two lists to rank kids.   #1 is they do their own ranking like any service, #2 the do a composite of the other services and give the kid an average star and overall ranking.

So when 24/7 released their own updated rankings yesterday, some of Michigan's recruits went up, others stayed flat and a few dropped some.

  • DE David Ojabo moved up 347 spots from 540 to 193 and is now a 4 star.
  • RB  Zach Charbonnet moved up from 219 to 40 and is just outside a 5 star.
Those are big jumps which will continue to help Michigan's overall class standing which ranks #5 in the country right now.

Here is a quick list of guys Michigan is still in the race for: (composite)

#3 Zach Harrison
# 9 Dax Hill
#18 Quavaris Crouch
#30 Akeem Dent (FSU)
#41 Kyle Ford
#49 Lewis Cline
#95 George Karlaftis (Purdue)

  • 4 star 2019 athlete has Michigan in his top group with Alabama, Ohio State, Nebraska, Purdue and UK.

In that last bullet, I think you forgot to include the student's name; I think it is Wandale Robinson.
