Wolverine Wednesday: Phillip Paea Places

Phil Paea former Wolverine defensive tackle decided to transfer recently.   Phil in his entire career at Michigan had only 10 live snaps in games.   ESPN game log has zero information on his stats.

Phil was a 2017 Offensive Guard recruit from Berrien Springs, Michigan which is known as the Christmas Pickle Capital of the World (I did not make that up).   I wasn't sure where Berrien Springs was and found that fun fact.

Phil announced that he will be transferring to Utah State and will join former Wolverine Hunter Reynolds on that roster in the Mountain West.   Maybe he will be moving back to the offensive line?  Phil I expect will be a graduate transfer but should have a couple years of eligibility left.

There also seems to be a trend with Michigan transfers this year.

Utah State: Reynolds and Paea

Tennessee: Milton and Mohan

Wake Forest: Vilain and Turner

We know Brian Jean Mary is at Tennessee and I couldn't find any other Michigan connections on the coaching staffs of Wake or Utah State.  Wake does have an assistant director of football operations by the name of Chris Osgood, but I'm pretty sure this is not the former Red Wings goalie.

  • RIP to Lloyd Carr's wife Laurie.  She passed away yesterday from cancer.
