Wolverine Wednesday: Can He Play DT? Yes, He Can!

When Michigan gets a RB commit for example, the joke on the message boards is, "can he play DT?".   Which is a position group Michigan seemly has needed for 5 years.   Michigan's latest recruit can absolutely play DT.   That recruit is Kenneth Grant who is a 3 star 6'4 335 pound defensive lineman from Indiana.   Actually, he is probably more of a nose tackle but you get the idea.

Ken Grant may sound a bit under rated when you consider he is a 3 star but Michigan beat Ohio State and Wisconsin for his services.  His other offers were ASU, UC, Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska, and others.   Michigan needs big run stoppers in this defense and Grant is one of those.

Welcome Big Man!

  • Poor Arizona, who is now run by Jedd Fisch and Don Brown are having an open tryout for more bodies for their football team.  Jedd doesn't deserve this.   With thousands of kids in the transfer portal, this seems like a strange option.
  • Brian Jean-Mary who left the Michigan staff after one year, called the Big House fans, "more of a tennis crowd".  Which makes sense, since he never coached a game at Michigan Stadium with fans in it.
  • Herbie said this, ""By the way, Rutgers is better than when you hear 'Rutgers.' They're better than that. Schiano, another coach who is doing really good work. And to think Tennessee kicked him out of the door before they could've had him is crazy."  Rutgers host Ohio State this weekend, upset alert?
  • The Brian Kelly Bowl is this weekend.  When two top 10 ranked teams Cincinnati visits Notre Dame.  This might be the biggest regular season game in UC's history.
  • Seems the Detroit Lions Anthony Lynn is a candidate for USC's head coaching job.   That would be a great choice.  Lynn of course, is the former head coach of the LA Chargers.
