Michigan Thursday: NBC Gives Michigan the A-Team to Start the Season

I've been very critical of the expected poor announcing teams of CBS College Football led by Gary Danielson, who makes me cringe every time I listen to him.   I do not feel that way about the NBC team which is led by one of the best in the business and Ann Arbor's own Mike Tircio who will be calling the East Carolina game with Chris Simms and Louis Johnson on the sideline.   Yes, we still have to find it on the Peacock, but at least it will be the best NBC has to offer.   I wonder if Mike will still do college games after the NFL starts and his Sunday Night duties resume?

On to some news and notes:
  • Roster Surprise: Jehu Chesson's brother Dale is on the Fall roster.  He is a transfer from Dartmouth and plays WR like his brother.  He will wear #84 and seems to be a graduate transfer.
  • Notable weight gains: Myles Hinton and Kris Jenkins are both up 20 pounds.  Erine Hausmann is up 17 pounds and Josaiah Stewart is up 15 pounds.
  • Notable weight loss: Derrick Moore lost 21 pounds, Ken Grant lost 17, and my boy Cam Goode lost 9.
  • Mike Morris is moving to a DT role for Seattle and now is over 300 pounds.
  • Tom Brady has purchased a share of Birmingham City FC
  • Michigan Basketball will open against Memphis and Penny Hardaway in the Battle of Atlantis
  • Don't forget, today the Michigan Nike Pegasus 40 was released.  They sold out quickly last year.  MDen, Dicks, Fanatics, Nike.com

"I've been very critical of the expected poor announcing teams of CBS College Football led by Gary Danielson...." You must not have listen to Doug Karsch's play by play of Michigan Football on the radio. Michigan hasn't had a play by play man since Frank Beckmann. Michigan football deserves better.

As with last year with Colston Loveland on offence & Mason Graham on defense, both coming into their with outstanding playmaking, this year my 2 nominees for coming out & unexpectedly being impactful are Cole Cabana & Kenneth Grant. Any others here have their own 2 candidates that may surprise in coming out of the blue to shining on the field?

Thom, yes Karsch is a hard listen, hopefully there's a much needed improvement from year 1 to year 2, as well as with his sidekick. Dierdorf was generational.

Ditto on the radio guys. I like listening to games on the radio and I can't see improvement we would be good with coming from those two. No disrespect to them but it's not their bag... Beckman did rock it...

At one time Michigan Radio had Paul Keels, IMHO one of the best. He's now the voice of that team in Columbus. And we get sideline left overs.
